Kelley K.
My name is Kelley. I'm 31, been married for 11 years, have two kids, and live in Sin City.
I guess my story is a lot like others that have already been told. I have always been (cough, cough) fluffy pretty much my entire life. I have always had that healthy appetite. I remember being one of the biggest kids in my class.
This journey has started for me because I'm scared to death of getting Type II diabetes. My dad is a retired Army guy and is also my hero, but when he volunteered to go to Vietnam I'm sure he never thought he would be exposed to something that could possibly destroy his health. My dad was exposed to Agent Orange and as a result he has Type II. The Army has already said that it can be passed down, but not to worry because I would be covered if I get it. Ok I was like "hold the phone, what the...." I don't want it!! I want to be healthy for my kids. Ok so I didn't mean for this to be a pitty party.
Anyways, I'm on my way now. It happened so fast. It seemed like one week I'm at the seminar, the next I have my first appt, the next I have my psych consult, which I passed thank you very much. So then I did my blood work and then the consult with the Dr. and now the actual surgery day!! YAY ME! The big day is July 3!!
I'm really looking forward to this stage in my life. I'm glad I found this forum to help me get through it!!
