Linda F.
I am a 39 y/o from Tampa, FL. I originally had RNY on 05/97 by Dr. John Alverdy at the U of Chicago Hospital. My starting weight was 271, I got down to 140 (my lowest, but never reached my goal weight of 132). Once I reached 140, I had the breast reduction, a tummy tuck and a thigh lift. All in all I was great. I stayed at that weight for about a year and slowly the weight just crept back up. Now I am at about 240 and am looking for a surgeon to do a revision for me. I don't blame anyone but myself for the weight gain. I have been trying to analyze how/why I ended up becoming morbidly obese again. Since my surgery I lost my brother to cancer (at age 33), I went through law school (which was extremely stressful), I had a baby, and a miscarriage, and I have also been trying to conceived for the past 4 years which was unsuccessful. So I have thrown in the towel of having another child and now I want to get my weight and life back in order. One thing that I didn't have in 1997, was any sort of support group. The internet was not as prevelant and the surgery was not as common as it is now, so I didn't have the support that I probably needed to keep me on track. So that's my story. Now my new journey begins.... first to find a surgeon. Second to decide on a type of revision...then get the insurance approval and have the surgery. Keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer for me.
