The Journey Begins
Aug 30, 2008
Hello everyone. Today is Aug 30, 2008. I joined OH on Aug 08 and made a couple of post about considering the WLS. thanks for those of you who replied. Your words have been very encouraging. I mentioned in my post that I felt like I was dealing with depression. I visited with a Psychiatrists for the first time ever on the 28th. It was good, not anything at all like I thought it would be. He did diagnose me with severe depression, very low self esteem issues and ADHD. He has changed my meds from Prozac to Zoloft, Ambien to Sonata, 60mg of Adderall to 40mg of Adderall/daily. I go back in a month to see if the changes are helping at all. I also take medication for HPB, Diabetes, and High Cholesterol. I've not been for a consultation yet but I'm building more strength to do it everyday.
There are some personal issues in my life that my Dr. has suggested that I start tackling immediately. I've got to do that. One of the "issues" of course, is my weight and overall health. I am really not sure what to do here. I've dieted before, exercised, all that and I can loose weight, almost as quickly as I can gain it!!
I have really got to get it together so I will be healthier and hopefully live longer. I don't think my family would support or encourage the idea of WLS, only because they are not educated on it. My boyfriend of two years will support whatever decision I make. He is a psychiatric ICU RN and a recovering alcoholic of 15 years. He understands way more that I do about how our minds work and all about the chemicals in our brains, what they do and how they can affect our daily lives. I'm learning more and more about WLS and its long term effects on obese patients. I am going to continue to learn more. Thanks to everyone for your informative post every day. The more I learn, the better decision I will be able to make.
Thanks, Lisa
