I have been chunky since I can remember...I weighed 145 in the 4th grade. I have tried every kind of diet, and or exercise
program out there. I have lost it and gained it back so many times I have lost track. I walk 7-10 miles a day as a mail lady
and even that is not enough to help me maintain my weight.
I have an almost 10 year old son whom I would like to spend more physical time with.
I decided earlier this year to do the lap band and after talking it over with my husband of 2.5 years and getting his
blessing ( he had gastric bypass April 03 and went from almost 500 to a comfortable 240 now) I made the first step and
went to the informational class on August 2 2007.
I had my blood work, dietician visit and pshyc visit done by the 31st of August. My nurse navigator turned all the paper
work into BCBS on the 17th of September and warned me it could take 30days to get approved or disapproved.
On Saturday the 22nd my approval letter came!!! It was dated the day before, September 21st which was my
39th birthday......oh to think that 40 will be oh so fabulous! Most women dread turning 40 and I can't because I will
be on my way to a totally different and healthier person!
When I told our son that I was having the surgery....and how it was different than dads...his only comment
was how he was going to be the big eater at dinner....he would get the adult dinner and we would get the kiddie
meal! Kids gotta love em!
