The clear thoughts tell me to abandon the surgery for now. There is no way on God's green earth that I can come up with almost $5,000 by the end of July. That is over $1,000 a month. You know what just frosts me, is that I work for the hospital, and they are really making it next to impossible for anyone who is employed by them to get this surgery, yet they are more than happy to provide it to the rest. Originally, they refused to add it on the insurance because they said the surgery was too risky, yet they had a surgeon doing bypasses there all the time, they were raking in the money. Now, they have opened a "Center of Excellence" but don't do anything to help their own employees get the surgery. Sure, they provide insurance, but they also made sure that there would be no cap on our out-of-pocket expsenses. They also made it so that we had to pay them, the beloved hospital, an additional $500.00 for their WIP/WIN program in order to even be considered for surgery.... guess who supplies the program, the people who run it, and the heart center where it is run, the beloved hospital... or the nuns who run it, either way, they profit from the dreams of people with a disease that will eventually kill them. I hope they are happy, but I can tell you this, I feel nothing but bitterness towards them and their so-called compassionate care, because they may give the average joe compassion, but they treat their employees like cr*p....
bummed

I am so beyond bummed.... I haven't got to go in yet, but a friend did and our portion is right around 4000... might as well be a million. They have to have it up front, before they will do surgery... now not sure what to do, once the emotions stop I can start thinking clearly again. Its like I finally saw that light at the end of the tunnel and now it is getting dimmer and dimmer.
Such a dweeb

Waiting and waiting, finally I called and they had tried to call me the day after I turned in my application packet! But, I now have a date for the initial visit on the 5th of April. I can take a deep breath now... I have 3 of the umpteen visits that I have to do in the next 6 months under my belt and the appointment, so I feel like things are in motion!!
Finger tapping....

Went to the seminar and turned in my application packet. Now, the waiting begins for the call for an appointment to go in.
Found out that my insurance requires me to go through a 6-month medically supervised weight loss program, which of course is provided by my employer (work in healthcare), so I have started that also today. I have to do 2 different parts to it, one is once a week for 20 minutes each time and the other is 3 times a week, not sure how long those are yet, but I live an hour away, so this is a pain in the you know what hoop...
