For starters... I am trying to lose weight.

I've thought about weight loss surgery for quite some time (maybe 4 yrs. now).  I was mostly looking into gastric bypass surgery.  That's all my insurance company would cover at the time.  My doctor did not seem too happy about that avenue.  I just recently found that my insurance covers lap band surgery and he and I had a good long talk about it.  It was a positive and encouraging talk for both of us.

I went to a seminar on October 6th.  It was very interesting.  When I got to the receptionist to set up my initial appointment, I was told that they do not take my insurance.  The receptionist promised to forward my information to another surgeon that did take my insurance and that she would call me the next day.

Well... no one called.  No one answered my e-mail.

I went to seminar #2 (Lap Band Solutions) on October 10th.  This seminar was interesting also.  Same video, but more detailed explanations.  The host was very nice, a real people-person.  They even fed us breakfast (smile).  They have a doctor that will take my insurance.  My first meeting with the doctor will be November 11, 2009.  I am so excited.

In the meantime, I had to get my PCM to refer me to the bariatric surgeon.  I called the PCM's office on Monday, October 12.  I'll have to call them back just to do a follow-up on the referral, because my PCM and his staff are slow.  Good... but SLOW.

10/19/09 - I just happened to check Humana-Tricare website this morning.  They approved the referral to the bariatric surgeon!  Yippie!  My appointment is set for 11/11/09.  Now I'm just counting the days.... and nights... and minutes... and seconds... and milliseconds.

10/31/09 - Happy Halloween everyone.  I hope everyone has a blessed and safe Halloween and stay out of the candy jar.  Lol!  Okay... maybe just one.  I'm just counting down until my doctor appointment on 11/11/09 - that's 11 more days.
I've been in bed with my back aching all day.  I will try laying on the floor (feet up) with my trusty heating pad to relieve some of the pressure.  Knees and ankles hurt too, but the back is the killer today.
