For future patients you might want to know that Dr. Lanzafame is a laporscopic surgeon. She performs other kinds of laporscopic surgeries and bariatric surgery is just one of her specialties. She has done about 70 of these procedures. I know this doesnt seem like much, but I assure you that she is extremely educated and knows what she is doing. I am a medical professional and come from a family of nurses and other medical professianls and I have no worries as to her capabilities.
Dr. Lanzafame expects all of her patients to have nutritional conseling and education. This consist of a consultation with a nurtritionalist and then a 1 year follow up program. The consult cost about $95.00 and the 1 year program is $750.00.
Dr. Lanzafame follows her patients for life. In the first 3 months post surgery you have to go in every couple of weeks for check ups. Then at the 3 month period you go back to see her every 3 months until your first year anniversary. After the first year you then see her every 6 months for 1 year. Then annually for the rest of your life. This is a fantastic program of follow up. She truely takes an interest in your entire life.
Dr. Lanzafame is a very imformational physician. She goes into great details about the pros and cons of having bariatric surgery. She uses guides and medical documentaion to educate the patient. Overall I think she is an extremely qualified physician and surgeon.
If I had to choose between surgical competence or beside manner, I would choose surgical competence. However, with Dr. Lanzafame I dont have to choose. Both are superb. She is an awesome doctor.
