Lori, I'm so glad to hear you made it through surgery with little complications. Congratulations and thanks for giving us an update on your progress to date. I can't believe you went back to school already, but you know your body, just take it slowwwwwww! Take care, Venus

HI EVERYONE!! Yes it is me...and I am BAAACK!! I got home on friday, but I was sicker than a dog...so I really couldn't make it to my computer. When i finally did this morning...All I can say is ALL OF YOU ARE TRULY WONDERFUL!!! Thanks so much for all your words of encouragement, and love. I wish I could sit here and thank each and everyone of you....but my belly is a little sore, so I will get around to it in a few days...I PROMISE!! I have so much to tell you all about my surgery. It was uneventful, and pretty successful. Dr.Merkel said he also had to remove some adhesions from my old surgery, and that is why I could still be feeling a bit crappy. Not to mention that the diet tech...not the dietician told me to eat a full 8 ounces of the shake in a hour, which made me feel like I was not doing things right, so I forced myself to finish at least 4 oz, and I was SICKER THAN A DOG. And I have to admit it was at that point I had wished I had never gone through with the surgery. I vomited, and had uncontrollable diarrhea. I was sick the day I was discharged too. I never get car sick, and did on the way home..so I was not the most pleasant one to talk to. Now I am feeling ok. I have even had mashed potatoes, and kept them in. My incision is still killing me, and I am still camped out on the recliner. I am hoping to try my own bed tonight...but we will see. I returned to school yesterday..talk about a LONG day. I am taking my vitamins, TRYING to get all my water in...can I say how HARD it is to take sips of water when you are dying of thirst!!!lol. BUT I am sorry for the LONG post...I originally wanted to say thank you SOOO much to all the wonderful people here, and not to mention yelling from the rooftops..I AM A POSTIE!!!! YIPPPPEEEEEE!!!!!! Hope you all are well, and will talk to you soon. Take care, and LOVE YOUR GUTS!! Lori

::ANGEL FLYING IN::
I spoke with Lori yesterday afternoon and she sounded GREAT! I was SO IMPRESSED that we could have a conversation because I was miserable on my second day out of surgery! She's DEFINITELY better at recovery than I am! LOL
She said she had a cute MALE nurse that was especially nice to her in ICU and although they were making plans to move her to a "regular" room, she was making deals with him to keep her in ICU! *Grin*
She is feeling good and had been allowed to sip water and of course had been up WALKING the halls! YAY LORI!!!
She said she'd call me today...I'm looking forward to chatting with her!

Dear Lori~~~~~I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well and that your surgery was uneventful. Follow every bit of advice you would give your own patients. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Be well.

I thought everyone would like to hear that she came through surgery with flying colors! I just chatted a little on the phone with her and she sounds fantastic. She might even be going home from the hospital on Friday.

::ANGEL LANDING::
I updated yesterday, but due to the MB being down, it didn't post...SO...here's the news!
Lori's surgery went well! YAY! No complications, everything went according to plan, said her dad when I spoke to him yesterday. WOOHOO!
He told me she was in surgery for about four hours, and then she was brought to ICU. He said she'd be in ICU for a couple more days...I guess it's "procedure" at this hospital. (ICU is like flying "first class" instead of "coach"! I'm jealous! I didn't get ICU at MY hospital! *Grin*)
He told Lori I phoned and said she nodded. LOL I'm sure that she was PRETTY GROGGY! I will call again today and maybe I'll be able to speak with Lori herself!
You MADE IT to the OTHER SIDE, Lori! Way to go! It's all good from here on in!
