09/26/09 I had rny in Feb 19, 2002. I had lost around 60lbs before the surgery. I went through surgery with no complications. I was one of the first patients to have surgery with Dr. Cook in Hickory, NC. I lost around 65lbs and stopped. I started gaining weight back after three years and still have kept off 50lbs. I never felt like my surgery was a success at all so I have consulted with the doctor and he agrees that I need a revision. The surgery originally performed used larger staples. The surgery he does now is a better surgery he says and more successful. I have spent the last week reviewing the memorial page. I notice that most of the deaths haven't been recent and several weren't even due to the surgery, but I still worry. I am in very good health other than back problems which I don't feel poses a risk for a revision. I have three beautiful children 12, 13 and one that's 15 going on 30 lol. I know if you have one that age you can understand that one. lol As I read the memorial and different other posts that people on this site have made, I was so impressed to read such caring things. Please, all of you that pray, keep me in your prayers as I make my decision on this revision. Right now I have completed 4 months of the 6 month doctor supervised diet and am scheduled for my psyc evaluation in Nov. Thank you and God bless you all!
