Hello all and thanks for stopping by.  I haven't really had time to personalize this page yet.  What has been done has been during work hours and me trying to squeeze in some FUN time..haha!

Let's see...what do you need to know about me? Ok.. Rolling back the hands of the timeclock about 20 years- I was always a bit heavy, but never anything serious.  It is definitely in my gene pool to be big. Dad was about 375 (and 6'6"+) . Dad died by the time he was 42 from Type 2 Diabetes and congestive heart failure.  My sisters who are 6 yrs older than myself are big, too. They are twins. One was topping the scales at over 600 at one point who is bedridden due to health complications,  and the other twin has been 375+ and is in serious denial about her health.   The entire lot of us are Type 2 diabetics.

I had always been around 130 -145 until I had a complete hysterectomy due to Polycystic Ovart Disease in 1986. I was 24 yrs. old. I had my children by then, missing my monthly period and the goodies that go with it was FINE by me! *giggle* In about 5 years time, my weight had ballooned up to around 270-300 and they started the diabetic testing.  I found out shortly after the holidays that my sugar levels were nuts and I was a full blown Type 2 diabetic.  (Well, surprise, surprise, eh?) Hence my journey with health issues, etc.. today.

So, 20 years later, I finally spoke to my family physician about weight loss surgery last Fall of '08 for the first time.  I have not had any success losing and keeping it off which he has kept record of since I was 16 yrs old, and the diabetic medicine makes me feel as if I am being poisioned.  I was on Glucophage which was increased in dosage for over 15 years.  It quit working. Then they added Lantus. Then my body decided to not cooperate and then they changed me to Avandia and Lantus. Then we went to this....then that....then back again.  My personal life is crazy right now, and the stress is really affecting my readings. *ugh*  In '08 in the summer, I decided to try a diabetic specialist.  Enter Dr. Edmondson.  He said that he thought that gastric bypass would be the way for me to go, as well. He sent me on my way after my appointment in September with an updated medicine regimine and, since then, he keeps upping the amount of my shots.  This, in turn, has caused me to pack on FIFTY POUNDS on this already stubby, chubby body of mine and my poor ole heart just pounds when I try to do anything out of the ordinary.  Not to mention the swelling (OMG the swelling) that is occuring daily-- its horrible! I went back to my family physician and asked him to please take over the Mother Ship because this badboy was about to crash and burn from the instant fat/water weight gain. I am telling you now, my hips and every joint in my body ache and throb after sitting in a chair for over 30 minutes.  My family physician agreed to try to assist, and put me on an addition 2 pills per day (Januvia and Glucophage) along with my 4 shots a day instead of upping my Humalog and Lantus.  My A1C was 9.8 in September of '08 and was 11.9 in April '09.

SO, here I sit, trying to regain the courage to do what he is asking of and seek additional help from Dr. Evanson. I went to orientation today and met w/ him for my one-on-one. He seems wonderful! Such a nice person and the top of his class according to my family physician. I am PRAYING that this gastric bypass will cure my diabetes. It is an ugly monster that's been on my shoulders now for 20+ years and I am tried of fighting a losing battle.. SO..... Wish me luck!!
