"My first impression of Dr. Wernsing was 'Wow, he is so young.' The more I spoke with him the more I realized I made the right choice in surgeons. His reputation was superior to anyone I had researched in the Philadelphia area. His manner was matter of fact but not in an abrupt way. He has a sense of humor that really put me at ease. Regarding his staff, you could not ask for a more professional group of people to work with. Any and all questions were answered. I never felt like I was in the process on my own. The structure of the program was well laid out and easy to follow from the first visit, through all steps necessary to be approved for surgery, right through what would be needed at home after surgery. All risks and benefits were explained thoroughly and I was encouraged to complete internet research. With Dr. Wernsing and his staff, aftercare is a significant part of this program. Dr. Wernsing and his staff will tell you right up front that if you are not willing to make the changes necessary for success after surgery then don't waste your time or that of Dr. Wernsing and his staff. I really appreciated that candor. If I had to rate Dr. Wernsing on at scale of 1 – 10 I would have to say he rates a 10 +++ as does his staff. I never had any doubts or concerns other than some anxiety of leaving the life I led previously for the changes that would be necessary for the Gastric Bypass surgery to be successful. I express this to Dr. Wernsing and he assured me that it was natural for such feelings and helped me through those issues. If you are looking for a physician who is surgically competent and has a wonderful bedside manner Dr. Wernsing may be the right choice for you as well. I have no regrets and I feel like Dr. Wernsing’s talents along with the assistance provided by his staff have given me a new lease on life. "
