Hi Karen, This is Jen from the support group at Scripps. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I know you will do fantastic just as you have with your pre-surgery weight loss. I’m sure you are very excited and nervous to start your journey. Keep the faith and you will succeed. Healthier and happier days are ahead! P.S. my mom had surgery in Nov 2002 with your surgeon - she has lost 155 pounds so far! she was very happy with him.

Best Wishes for a successful surgery and smooth recovery! Weigh to go! I just read another post from someone who just had surgery and the thing that hurts the most is their BACK. And it is PAINFUL, not just uncomfortable. THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR SURGEON, BEFORE THEY PUT YOU UNDER, IS TO PUT SOMETHING UNDER YOUR KNEES TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR BACK!!! Time and time again folks are coming out of the O.R. and their back is killing them. It’s because you are lying flat on your back for hours on a hard surface. How long can you do that now? If the surgeon will just put a rolled up blanket under your knees this problem will be eliminated! Got It?... Good…. Problem solved. (Or at least talk it over with him/her).
