Aloha everyone!
I'm a Texan living in Hawaii and am married with two wonderful boys. I am looking into having bariatric surgery or the lapband procedure. I have been "overweight" since the 7th grade (I am now 31 years old) but have been considered "obese" since 2002, after I met my husband I gained 30lbs, then gained another 50 with my first pregnancy. I lost 60lbs through dieting and excersize but was still no where near my ideal weight. I had another baby a year ago and gained all of my weight back plus some. I'm 5'6 and 230lbs. I made the decision the day before my sons first birthday 6/22/07 to have surgery for weight loss. In the past year, I tried to loose the weight in various ways, all to no avail -- I have tried gyms, weight watchers, diet supplements (over the counter), diet pills and even prescribed phentermine - all with little to no weight loss. Always gained back the little I did loose. I'm tired, my bones ache and I just had a doctor's appointment to check if I had any comorbidities to see if I would qualify under my insurance guidelines for them to pay. I haven't heard from my doctor's office yet and it's been 4 days since the tests were taken. My doctor suspected that I may have arthritis or lupus, my blood pressure was in the pre hypertension category - as for the rest - just need to wait for results. I'm supposed to get a call today.
My first weight loss seminar is at Castle Medical Center in Kaneohe with Dr. Fowler on July 11th. As the days go by I get more anxious!
