Post-op 2 weeks
Dec 08, 2010
Hey everyone,
Had surgery just over 2 weeks ago and it has been surely an adjustment. The actual surgery went fabulous, better than I could have expected. I stayed a few nights in the hospital post-op and came home on Thanksgiving day. I am having some struggles, I am simply not interested in eating or drinking and I know that isn't healthy....I am almost a nursing grad after all. Pureed food is nothing that is appealing to me and I would love nothing more than to just not eat through the whole day. I am doing my best with drinking, getting better everyday. I have yet to find a protein shake that is even semi-appetizing to me so obviously need to get better at that too. I had some complications the first couple weeks home, ended up with pneumonia, a bad bad sinus infection and pink eye so ended up in the ER a couple times because was dangerously dehydrated as well.
Yesterday was my 2 week post op appt at the team said I look good! They, too, are concerned with my dehydration and poor food intake so I know I need to keep working on that. Yesterday at post op was the first time I weighed myself since the day of surgery and am officially down 26 pounds. I got the go ahead yesterday at post op to start back at the gym next week and so I am very excited about that.
I'd love any tips on protein shakes, pureed diets or any other tips out there!
Talk soon,
Michelle
