Saturday July 13th I attended the baritiric informational session at the hospital learning about the surgery, processes and procedures. I had given this a lot of thought before getting to this point. My sister has had the bypass surgery 3 years ago and has never regretted a day of doing so. Since my doctor has a policy of meeting with an elected pshychologist, I began doing so, for 5-6 sessions, before getting the "green light" for her to "okay" surgery. Five sessions is the least anyone can meet. On Friday, August 29, 2008 I was notified that the doctor's office had faxed papers to insurance for approval. Unbelievably the following Tuesday (God works in misterious ways), I was notified that my insurance was approved for the proceedure. Today, September 4, 2008 I found out that on October 14th I will get pre-registered at the hospital and following that appointment I will meet with the doctor's office for information and begin my 10 day liquid diet prior to surgery. WoW- this is going to be a huge adjustment even though I have been getting prepared trying to get my 60-85 grams of protein in everyday. Steaks are on the grill as I speak. ;-) I am so excited that my surgery is scheduled, I'm ready for my new chapter in new health and life to kick - start.
