Hello Michelle, I just wanted to post and say to you Keep up the good work you are helping me get through nervousness that I am feeling. I will be having my Surgery on Oct. 14 with Dr. Harrington also.

Ok, it's day 5: I'm feeling so much better. Still weak but there is no more pain. Actually weighed myself this morning and I'm down 9 pounds... yippeee!! I'm trying to choke down the protein shakes- I have to actually water them down because they are too thick. I'm going to venture to WalMart tomorrow night with my daughter (she's driving) to pick up a few supplies for the house. I'll post on how that goes...lol.

WoooooooooooooHoooooooooooooo Michelle is back and in charge. I cant believe she had the strength. Good for you Michelle. Im sooooo happy for you. I hope that I actually get the strength that you have. Only time will tell. Now if we can only get you back to NY sooner. Talk to you soon. Love ya BEtsy

Well the surgery was uneventful. My surgeon is great. Never in my life had a surgery go so well. The recovery is what sucks. I'm not yet 48 hrs post op and I have to admit that I went through the day from hell. Don't be foolish like me and think that you won't need pain meds. OMG!! I had to send my daughter to the pharmacy to get my Tylenol w/Codeine because I thought I was going to die. Once I got the codeine on board I'm feeling better. Still a little gassy. Had several bowel movements today and that was an experience. Don't know if it was a little bit of "dumping" from the liquid tylenol or what but I'm glad that is over. Last night I went from bed to the recliner back to bed. I was able to sleep for a few hours with the codeine and even felt good enough to take a shower. I started protein today- very scary at first. I'm going to go for another dose in a few mins but I can't wait for the recovery part to be over. I know it will be worth it in the end but getting there isn't easy.

Michelle - Wishing you a speedy recovery and sure hope your stay in the hospital is short! My surgery is Tuesday, so I will be looking for follow ups from you to see how somebody "right in front" of me is doing. Though I know it will be worth it, not looking forward to the next few weeks! Ok, the surgery is Friday afternoon. I've been doing the nesting thing...preparing the house, cleaning, laundry, stocking up on protein powders and s/f pudding and jello. I just want this to be over with so that the anxiety goes away. I'm anxious to get started. I just bought the book Weigh Loss Surgery for Dummies and ordered another book titled Meals in a Glass. I also went this weekend and bought some clothes that were a few sizes smaller than I can wear right now. Hopefully I will be able to wear them in a few months. It's hard to holding back the excitement and anticipation because although my friends know I chose not to tell my coworkers that I'm having the surgery. I felt that this is my decision and my choice. I'm doing this for me not for anyone else. Eventually I will probably have to tell them but right now...it's my "treat" to myself and I'm not sharing with just anyone.

Michelle, May God be with you on your surgery day and during recovery. Remember why you came to this decision and know that even when and if it gets hard, your health is all that matters and this is the right thing. I'll be thinking of you on "our" day.
