Like most people here, I have been obese my whole life. I have always been that girl that was told.... "You have such a pretty face!" or, "If you lost wieght, you would be a knockout." Everyone in my family is obese. I come from a long line of Obese. Heart Attacks, Diabetes, you name it, someone in my family has it, all because of obesity. My mother had a RNY 15 years ago and had great success. She was over 300 lbs and now weighs 160lbs. I had the oppourtunity to have it done back then, but was afraid of surgery and never really thought that I was that big to begin with. Then, my baby sister had the RNY done at the age of 15. She was close to 280lbs. She did very well at first, and lost a lot weight. Due to her age, I believe that she just could not comprehend what kind of changes needed to be made to have success and gained most of it back. That was another excuse for me not to have the surgery.
Well, now, at the age of 27 years old and watching others have thier WLS and doing well, I decided to change my life. I met Dr. Blaney and it was the beginning of my new life. I had my RNY Gastric Bypass on June 16th, 2008 and could not be happier. I started at 265 lbs and am now 38 lbs lighter less than 2 months later. I am extreamly satisfied with my results so far. I haven't had any problems so far and would be willing to help anyone in any way I can. Thanks for reading.
