I have been overweight most of my adult life (and podgy as a child).
6 years ago I was 385lb and suffered with severe sleep apnoea. I decided to do something about it, I lost 110lb over 8 months with optifast and a dam lot of hard work. I kept it off for 1 year and then my weight started to jump back up by 10lb / 8lb / 14lb ect. until I found that I was 340lb again.
I then tried herbalife - lost 50lb and kept it down over 1 yr but it started to come back when i started to reintroduce carbs and dairy products.
I decided to look into Weight Loss Surgery and went for the lap-band. it looked like the answer to my problem, eating too much carbs (for me any carbs is too much). The band went in when I was 315lb. It worked well for the first year. I lost 45lb until the band slipped and I had to have it released.
My surgeon suggested i look into a VSG. I've spent the last 4 months seeing his dietician and psychiatrist for the pre-op assessment. My weight climbed back up to 355lb where I was last week. I've lost 6 1/2 lb since last week. I just need to loose another 8lb in the next week when i see my surgeon again and hope that he will set a date before Christmas this year.
