I began this journey in January on 2010. That was my first appointment with my surgeon. Met with him faithfully for the 6 months required by my insurance Then, in June, my paperwork was submitted and I was approved in 2 days! Couldn't believe how fast it took. My surgeon scheduled the surgery for the following week. The surgery took place on June 16th. I am currently 11 days out and doing pretty well. Like many others, I have tried so many diet programs. I could own stock in Weight Watchers for all the money I spent attending meetings and not to mention how many times I re-joined. I just got tired of yo-yoing. I'm really hoping that this surgery will give me the tool that I need to lose the weight and keep it off. I have seen and heard so many success stories and I would really like to be one of them.
I am an elementary school music teacher. I have been teaching 24 years. I teach K-5 general and vocal music. I love my job. It can get very stressful at times but everyone has stress at their jobs. I am married and I have a grown daughter (24 yrs). She is married and she blessed with a wonderful little grandson this past March. I want to be able to play with him and have the energy to keep up with him. My husband wants to travel after I retire in a few years. I have so many reasons to get healthy. I just knew that this surgery would be a step in the right direction. I still worry about complications down the road. But I have to focus on now. My main goal right now is to get the weight off and get healthy.
