I am officially banded. Thursday started off very bad. It was raining like crazy and the drive was rough as there were accidents and the road was so messy. I got there 6:15am. Everything was okay and then I woke up in RECOVERY!!!
The day started off very good. I was able to keep fluids down and sleep without any pain. My BP was sooo high that it prompted another stay in the hospital. Despite all of the BP drama, I made it. I went home Saturday morning. I rested good at home in my own bed. Today is Monday and I am still doing fine. I get my staples out Friday, 19th. Well, gotta get more fluids in, I'll chat later.

Oh and the gas pains I here alot of people complaining, about, someone must have really prayed for me because I have not had one  ounce of pain.

Today was my last pre operative appt. with Dr. Givens. Everything is scheduled and ready to go. I have lost 5 lbs with this 10 day pre op diet. I really didn't expect anything but I'm thankful for what it is.
I am a bit nervous but I'm also ready to be on the other side of 249 as well.
I hope all is well with the other OH Losers and those wanting the change, keep up the good work and you can achieve your goal. See you on the other side.

11 Days to go and I am trying to stay focused. I've had several appoints, Vein ultrasound, EKG, Pulmonary and etc. All good and in line with surgery. I have my Class coming up on 12/04. My preoperative appt. with Dr. Givens and then on 12/11, I will become a Bandster.

Looking forward to being on the other side of 250. Congrats to all those before me. It's a life changing decision and if you have already been where I am trying to go, Congratulations, you've made it.

FINALLY, I WAS APPROVED 11/120/08. SURGERY DATE SCHEUDLED FOR 12/11/2008. IT HAS BEEN A LONG 6 MONTHS SINCE  I STARTED THIS JOURNEY AND FINALLY IT WILL BE REALIZED,,,,,,,,,,, AT LAST!!

First let me start by saying that on 9/11/08 I called to check on the status of my authorization with Cigna and to my surprise I was told it was denied due to the fact that I did not meet the criteria for WLS.  WEll after a few words of @#$%^&* and #$%^&*, I decided to call the Dr. office and let the insurance clerk know. Well to my surprise on Monday, 9/15 she called me back and had a different story to tell. She called and asked why and they claimed to never have rec'd the clinical information. To top it off she also said her denial was dated 8/27 and the letter asking for the clinical was dated the same day. COINCIDENCE OR WHAT!!!  Well she said there is no way you could have rec'd all that info and deny it within a few minutes so she spoke with a supervisor who she stated she did not see the clinical in the file and also wanted to know how could they have denied it within minutes of receiving the files. Someone is not doing their job. Well thankfully, the supervisor overrode the decision and placed my authorization back in for review.  Give her an award for ethical behavior. Well, on 9/29 I will be set for getting pulmonary clearance and prayerfully it will go well. I have all faith it will.
Now who in their right mind would believe the first thing an insurance company tell them. Thank God for Donna, she  is on top of her game when it comes to working with insurance . October 8Th, I should know the decision if not before then. Until we speak again, Happy Loosing to all !!!

I am thankful for what the day brings and prayerfully look forward to another. No word today from the insurance. Things are still "PENDING" Other than Hurricane Hanna, Ike and Joesphine, the weather is really not that bad. It feels really cool, not too cold and not too hot but just right. I have been looking at some of the members on OH and my "Hats OFF" to all of them who have joined the "LOSERS CLUB". I took will be taking out a membership as well. I will be trading in my high BP, Hernia, medications and edema for a natural looking and feeling body, mind and soul and a deeper spiritual reality.

Making this choice was the best "life choice" I have ever made. KUDOS to me. Until next week when I will post my celebration for "GETTING APPROVED"!! I was taught to "Claim those things that are not as though they were" so I am speaking to my situation and claiming VICTORY!!

A BIG "WELCOME" TO MY NEW FRIEND!

Recvd a ltr from Cigna requesting clinical info from Dr. I called Dr. Given's ofc and they assured me it was all routine and that they would submitt it today. Cigna health services said I should have an answer possibly friday or monday.  

TODAY I SPOKE WITH JOY @ DR. GIVEN'S OFC AND MY INSURANCE LETTER HAS BEEN SENT. IT HAS NOT BEEN A LONG TIME BUT IT HAS SURELY GONE BY.
