Time to get back on track
Apr 03, 2013
Well, it's been almost 6 years and I've gained back about 45lbs. I realize now that I've gone back to grazing and am ignoring the dreaded dumping...just go to sleep through it. I haven't joined or participated in any support groups as I did in the beginning. So now is the time to get back on track, I didn't go through this to go back to the bad eating habits and lack of exercise.
I have moved to a new state so am going to depend more on finding online support.
1 Year!!!

WOW, I can't believe it's been a year already! It's been an incredible journey, I've lost a whole person. Officially I've now lost 146lbs and have gone from a size 24/26 to a size 12. I'm at 169lbs and would like to get down to about 150. I'm ready to see about some plastic surgery now, I need to get these arms and thighs fixed back up.
I can honestly say if I had to make this choice all over again I would still follow this path. Having this surgery was the best choice I've ever made, it's improved not only my health, but my feelings about myself and my work life. I'm much more confident and content than I was before and my family and friends have noticed this too.
6 Months Out

Wow the time is flying by. I'm down to 230 now, a total of 86lbs gone!!! I feel pretty good, and thankfully have still not eaten anything that has made me sick. I'm trying to get in all the protein and vitamins, the next check up will tell when they do a blood test.
I need to work on my calorie count now, I am not sure how many calories I'm eating. I also have been very bad about the exercise, but have now joined a gym to try to get myself moving. I'm going to work with a personal trainer at least once a week to make sure I'm doing the right exercises for my body.
I am very thankful that I made the decision to start this journey and feel so much better now. I know if I had to do it all over again I most definetly would!

3 Months Post-Op

I have been really bad about getting support from others on this journey. Since having the surgery my son has returned from Iraq, I've moved to a new home and now am too far away from the support groups I was trying to attend.
I have made quite a bit of progress in my weight loss....down to 262 from my pre-op weight of 311. I still am having trouble eating most types of protein. I also seem to now be lactose intolerant.
Guess this journal entry is my way to vent and promise myself that I need to be better at seeking support. I do have a wonderful husband who supports me 100%, but sometimes he's at a loss as to what to say or do.

One week post op

Wow the week flew by! I haven't felt too bad, only used the pain meds a couple of times, so far no nausea, but I will keep the fingers crossed for that one.
I'm now on soft foods, and figuring that one out is a bit of a challenge. I;ve eaten ricotta cheese, pudding, pureed chicken enchilada soup. Now I'm at a loss as to what else to try, but as long as I keep reading the boards I know I will find my answers!
