Long time no post
Jun 24, 2008
So I am 4 months out this week, down 80 pounds and only have 65 pounds until goal. I have had a slow summer with work, but this has helped me with re prioritizing my life and everything in it. I have started working out again, and am pushing myself on running, I am able to do about a 15 minute mile with out stopping at this point, and it is only getting better. I am going to start pushing for longer times before upping my speed.
I have a better relationship with my husband and family, and have been told I am more enjoyable to be around. Plus my outlook on life has changed. I am in preparation for a MAJOR career change after I graduate in December and am getting my ducks in a row to make the change, mentally and financially. It's like I have reconnected with society.
I think alot has to be attributed too, to the fact that I feel so much better about myself, and I am a healthier, more energetic person now, and I do not feel the need to burrow myself in my work. Which is something I always did working with the blind population.

Back to Life
Mar 24, 2008
So today was my first official day back to work at my districts. Luckily I planned the surgery right before spring break and had about a month, I am so glad I did my make up work before the surgery too. It was an ok day, my first day back to living/working out of my car. I did do wendys chili for lunch, i just picked the beans out, and took a snack and an isopure just in case i needed it. I have not felt hungry so far. I drank a mango peach Isopure and found my new fav drink. So far I have no regrets, getting used to eating and slowly trying new things, if I think its not going to go down right, I just spit it out.lol My family thinks this is weird, but I don't want anything getting stuck or breaking my staple line.
Back to Gym
Mar 16, 2008
So today was my first day back at the gym, I tried not to overdo it, just about 30 minutes on an elliptical. I plan on waking up and doing the gym again tomorrow, but doing some weights as well. I feel well, my goal is to go back to spin class before my birthday in about a month. I have not been to spin in about 6 months. Eating is going well, going into my second week of soft food. I discovered the cottage cheese is not the same as it was pre op and I do not really like it. I do however like fish, FF refried beans with FF cheese and crab meat, and laughing cow. I did have one situation earlier this week, I think that I did not get the laughing cow mushed up good enough and it got stuck. Talk about hurting, it wouldn't go down or come back up, very very painful.

So today, I go digging through my closet and I find a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in almost a year......and they fit, OH YEAH. Already down a size, can't wait to see what's coming. Figured out how to get my liquids in, doing a little better. Getting my protein. I think I have tried every thing there is so far my favorite is Nectar and the pure protein drinks. New Whey, Isopure, Any Whey.....not so fond of. Hopefully once my husband has the surgery that he will like the ones that I do not like since we have so much of them.
Back to work
Mar 09, 2008
So back to work I go tomorrow. I have had two weeks of pretty uneventful stuff at home. It snowed twice, which was nice to be off work for so I did not have to drive or work in the snow. Hoping I can make it through this next week, then take another week off for my husbands RNY. So far so good with me. I discovered this cream of broccoli soup at whole foods, I heat it up with some FF shredded cheddar, and I am in heaven. Getting all of my protein, but very difficult for me to get in the water, it feels like it just sits in my pouch and hurts every time I try to drink it. I have noticed that in the mornings I have to start with my chewable vitamins or something else. Smell of food still makes me sick, which is good. I also get the rest of my staples out tomorrow....hopefully. Went to the gym today and did about a mile on the treadmill with no problem, so work shouldnt be a problem. All positives from this end.
1 week post op tomorrow
Mar 03, 2008
Tomorrow is one week post op for me. I finally get to leave the house for something other than walking the block or someone taking me to the store. I didn't get a chance to walk today. It is about 40 degrees here today ( which is COLD for Tx) and I didn't want to get out in it just to walk. I really excited about getting out though. I am doing well with the liquid, tired of just sipping and wish I could just down my bottle of water and get the water it. It takes so much time and memory to keep on sipping. Since figuring out I can't handle juice I have not had any upsets with any other food. So far so good. I am looking up recipes and different things that I can do when I switch to full liquids tomorrow.
4 days post op
Mar 01, 2008
I am feeling much better pain wise today, how ever I feel really out of it today. A little dizzy and light headed, we went to the store and bought some Keto Stix- explains the symptoms. I am doing much better getting in my protein, starting to go beyond new whey and isopure, but still staying clear. I was so set on just using the new whey and isopure, and I do well with them, however they are not the best tasting especially sipping on them for hours to get them all down. They are too sweet for me. I still sick when smelling my husbands food, than goodness he will be having his surgery in a few weeks and I will not have to endure it for much longer. Still don't feel any hunger, which is a good thing.
3 days post op
Feb 28, 2008
So the surgery is done. It all still feels a little surreal, like Im still waiting, on the liquid diet waiting. I feel ok, some soreness, stiffness and lots of air/gas churning inside from the actual surgery. I have never been so happy to be able to burp or pass gas. I am doing good with my liquids, I am building up the amount I can consume each day, which is great. So far I havent missed food, infact when mom or Jeramy have eaten while Im doing my protien the smell from their food actually makes my stomach queasy which I guess is a good thing. I got home Thursday night. So it was a full 3 day 2 night stay at the hospital which I never want to revisit again. Uncomfortable beds and a day nurse from hell. I loved the night nurse who is related to Oprah winfrey by marriage....how cool. Other than that every thing is well. - Micha
12 hours pre op
Feb 25, 2008
Went to the hospital this morning, found out my surgery had been moved up. Kinda stinks instead of getting to hospital at 9:15 have to be there at 6:45 am now. Which means waking up earlier and more traffic. I am still not so nervous of the surgery but more of the after part of surgery and learning a new life style.
I am 12 hours a counting until surgery. Gonna finish my pre op regime that they gave me, and try to relax until my mother gets here and then off to hospital I go. Wish me luck.
