I do hope you are feeling better. I guess I was so lucky and was out not even 48 hours after I got there. I do hope that you are home and feeling like a million bucks and ready to lose lose lose. You have now joined a new club and we are all LOSERS hehe. I do hope you are doing good and the pain and nausea have gone away. Shawna

12/10/03 Well, Shawna did not get discharged today as planned. She was having some more problems with nausea, and opted to stay at Swedish for one more day. A good decision, I think. She should go home on Thursday. Please let her know you care by sending encouraging words. I know she will appreciate it! Thanks :)

Hi again! Today is Wed, 12/10, and Shawna is going to be discharged today. I was with her for about 3 hours this morning. The pain is MUCH better, and she looks good (well.... maybe not GOOD..lol, sorry, Shawna!). She was drinking broth, tea, eating (1 piece) of jello. She is also swallowing oral meds well, after they have been cut into 4 pieces. I am sure she'd love to hear from you when she gets home to her computer. CONGRATS SHAWNA!! (you big loser!) hehe.

I am so proud of Shawna! She had a sucessful Lap RNY today :) The last few steps toward surgery have come so quickly for her... it was a little overwhelming. She did GREAT! Surgery was ahead of schedule, at 11:45 and she went to recovery at 1:45. Dr. Tillquist said everything went perfectly. She went to her room at 3:15, and was in a great deal of pain because they did not set her up on enough pain meds, but that was resolved by 4:15. She was joined in the hospital by her boyfriend, her brother, her son and her daughter (and me, of course). I am so amazed that it is done! She deserves this more than anyone else I have met. Please send her your congratulations! Lots of love to ya Shawna!! Susan :)

May you always have an Angel by your side, Watching out for you in all the things you do; Reminding you to keep believing in brighter days, Finding ways for your wishes and dreams to come true; Giving you hope that is as certain as the sun, Giving you the strength of serenity as your guide, May you always have love and comfort and courage. May you always have an Angel by your side, Someone there to catch you if you fall; Encouraging your dreams, Inspiring your happiness, Holding your hand and helping you through it all. In all of our days, our lives are always changing; Tears come along as well as smiles. Along the roads you travel, May the miles be a thousand times more lovely than lonely; May they give you gifts that never, ever end; Someone wonderful to love And a dear friend in whom you can confide. May you have rainbows after every storm, May you have hopes to keep you safe and warm, And may you always have an Angel by your side.

Best Wishes for a successful surgery and smooth recovery! Weigh to go! I just read another post from someone who just had surgery and the thing that hurts the most is their BACK. And it is PAINFUL, not just uncomfortable. THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR SURGEON, BEFORE THEY PUT YOU UNDER, IS TO PUT SOMETHING UNDER YOUR KNEES TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR BACK!!! Time and time again folks are coming out of the O.R. and their back is killing them. It’s because you are lying flat on your back for hours on a hard surface. How long can you do that now? If the surgeon will just put a rolled up blanket under your knees this problem will be eliminated! Got It?... Good…. Problem solved. (Or at least talk it over with him/her).
