Less then 48 hours! Plus my measurements!

Jan 14, 2007

Someone posted about regretting not taking there measurements before they lost.  I should have taken them two weeks ago (they are probably bigger) since I think I am down around 15-20 lbs (weigh-in is tomorrow morning).

Anyway as of 1/14/2007 at 9:30pm here are my measurements:

Neck- 19.5"
**My neck was was 20 a couple weeks ago as I got fitted for a new dress shirt.
Chest- 60"
Stomach-  63"
(around the largest area of my stomach)
Waist- 54.5"
Upper Arm- 16.5"
Thigh- 31.5"
(around the largest area of my thigh)

CLOTHING SIZES
Pants- 54/56
Shirt- 20" Dress Shirt and XXXXL

So now I have officially put it ALL out there!  I have NEVER done this before.  However, I know down the road I will NOT regret this and it will give others a chance to see my journey.

I am about to have my last SF vanilla/choc swirl pudding and a small protein shake.  Tonight is my LAST night on full liquids before the surgery.

Tomorrow is a clear liquid diet, followed by (2) bottles of lovely lemon mangesium citrate.  I will probably take those around 3pm.

My surgery is scheduled for early Tuesday morning!  I don't think I will get much sleep before then.  I will certainly try though!

I appreciate the support and all of the messages I have received from everyone on here!  I really feel that I have an entire team cheering on my success!!  That s something that money can never buy!  Since I am self-pay.... I will take anything for free! ;-)

So the next time I post.......... I will be banded!!!

Thanks again!
Mike

No more liquids!!! I can't take it anymore! :)

I am on Day 4 of the two week pre-op diet.  My life has consisted of soup, SF jello, SF pudding, SF popsicles, protein shakes, SF/FF Yogurt and water water WATER!!!!!

I felt very sick the first couple of days!  I left work Tuesday with a migraine and I was off all day yesterday with a throbbing headache and nausea.  Several people had stated this was due to my carb/sugar withdrawal---- no surprise there!!!!

Today I also made a huge step and posted my weight and goals!  With eating better and getting some daily exercise in I have started dropping some pounds!!!

I weighed in this morning at 391.8 and I started this at 408.  So I have managed to drop 16.2 lbs!!  My pants are already loosening up and I feel much better today (not to mention more energy).

I 'signed up' for the Valentines Day challenge.  My main goal would be to lose 10% of the OLD me!  That equals 41 lbs!  That means 24.8 lbs more to go.  I know that is a bit of a big goal.  However, I have another 10 days of the liquid diet (pre-op), surgery and then the post-op liquids.  I tend to lose very quickly whenever I diet.  4lbs a week is a bit agressive, however, I feel I will drop quite a bit before this liquid diet is over with!

Surgery is on 1/16 (Tuesday).  I have everything done!!!  I just need to show up at 6:15am. :-(  I doubt I will get much sleep that night.

The BiPAP machine is going better.  Last night I managed to get almost 3 hours in on it.  I still hate it, however, I do believe that is where more of my energy is coming from.

Well, I could go on forever.  I just want to say that I am so thankful for everyone on OH!  Everyone has been so amazing and encouraging!  I don't know if I could have made it this far without everyone on here!

Merry Christmas and finally the New Year is here!

Dec 28, 2006

Well.... today I had my final test (a chest xray).  When I had my upper GI and gallbladder ultrasound done I was so nervous I forgot about it! :)  I had my bloodwork and EKG last week.  All of the tests came out well.

My Mom is THRILLED about all the testing I have gone through.  I have been to so many Dr's in my life! :)  Throughout this process I did find two things (I consider both pretty serious):

1.  Sleep Apnea- much to my surprise this is why I am SO tired all the time!!!  I thought it was just my weight.  It was SO scary to learn I stopped breathing 38 times per hour (on average)- *YIKES*  I received my BiPap machine on 12/27 and used it for the first time last night.  I could only stand it for about an hour.  The Dr. said it could take up to 30 days to adjust and sleep on it the full night.

2.  High Blood Pressure- the past couple of years at the Dr. or even at the pharmacy I would check this out.  Always around 160/90.  I had convinced myself that I was just 'nervous' or that it wasn't reading it right.  I was only fooling myself!  My EKG looked good, however, the Dr. wanted me to have another test next week- echocardiogram on 1/4/2007.

I have received my checks from my credit union for the hospital and surgeon.  I took out a loan for $15,000 and the rest I am paying out of pocket.  I could have paid more, however, I didn't want to strap myself as I don't know if any additional expenses may come!

I start my liquid diet next Monday, January 1st and my lap-band surgery is scheduled for 1/16/2007.

I am nervous, anxious and excited.  I really wish I could fast forward a month- my body will be adjusted to the BiPap machine, I will be 'banded' and hopefully down about 25 lbs or so.

I am also posting my starting weight of 408.  I will have a more accurate reading next week at the Dr's.  However, last time I checked I was about 396 since I started this process.  When I first saw my weight jump into the 400's I said "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"!!!!!!!!

Weight Watchers was my last successful program.  I still love it and learned a lot from it.  However, it could never help me fix my problem of ALWAYS being hungry.  My band will!

So my first blog entry and probably my last for 2006.  I am hoping for the healthiest and prosperous New Year for myself and all of my OH friends and member.

THANK YOU!
Mike
