My Journey

Mar 28, 2011

So I guess I should track my journey somewhere....I started this journey Oct 2010 when I went to an informative class about WLS.  It was that night that I decided to do Gastric Bypass instead of the Lap Band.  Initially I was going to do the Band, but after hearing all that can go wrong with it, I decided against it.  Also ~ if I'm going to have surgery to better myself and health then I am going to do it right, and Bypass you lose more weight in the long run.  My goal was to get off ALL my meds which included:  Glucophage (Diabetes)
                          Lisinopril (High Blood Pressure)
                          Simvastatin (High Cholesterol)
I met with Dr. Dabideen in Nov. 2010, and then from there we got the ball rolling.  I went through Psych classes and testing, 4 weeks with the Dietician, 4 weeks of group therapy.  My surgery date was March 16, 2011.  For 8 days before surgery I had to do the Liquid Diet which included:  Protein shakes, broths, 1 Lean Cuisine at dinner and that was about it.  Then 2 days before surgery I had nothing but clear liquids, but to be honest, I hardly drank anything all day.  Surgery really was not that bad.  I was in there Wed ~ Sat afternoon.  I was off all pain meds by Tues. :)  I am officially off ALL of my meds :) :) :) The only one I am on now is Prilosec for heart burn and I will always be on that.....which I am o.k. with.  So begins the start of my very exciting journey!!!!!!!!!!
