Hello Melissa: Sorry to hear about your cancelation date. But as we all know....it is better to be safe than sorry. You don't want to have to take iron shots...I heard they could be very painful. Good Luck on getting that iron in. God Bless!

I am so sorry to hear about the delay, but God willing it won't take to long to get everything under control again. I am praying for you. God bless.

June 3 surgery CANCELLED. My Iron Sat at PATS was 6. My PCP won't let me go through with the June 3rd date, says it will take at least 4 or 5 weeks to get my Iron at a safe level. This journey has already taken a year. How much longer can it get? Thanks for letting me vent. MISSY

Missy had PATS yesterday and found out the her iron count is too low and she has sugar in her urine. Dr. Schrieber needs clarification as to why these counts are abnormal before they can proceed with surgery. She is unable to see her physician until Monday so it will be a long weekend for her. Please pray that everything will be ok and the surgery will take place on June 3rd as planned. I hope it will comfort her to know we are all praying for her.

Melissa, what you are feeling and experiencing is something we all go through. It's natural. Think positive because the pros outweigh the negs. It totally has to be your decision alone but just the journey of getting to the other side can play havoc with your mind. I went through it to. Right up to the door. That was 2 weeks and 2 days ago, and 20 lbs later. The first few days were rough, but you know, it does get better with each day passing. Best yet, I am no longer out of breath, and my ankles are no longer swollen over my shoes, in fact my shoes fall off as I walk just with 20 lbs later. I feel wonderful healthwise already even though I still have 130 lbs to go. I feel I have been given a new life and it feels wonderful. Whatever your decision, best of luck because you will make the right decision for you.

Hi Melissa. I saw your post about how scared you are about surgery right now (about a month out for you). Please remember that complications are the exception, not the norm. Please read the journals and comments of people who've succeeded. There are so many here, even if you read two or three a day from beginning to end, you wouldn't be through all of them before June 3. Some of those folks had complications too, but they were managed and addressed and they came through it all fine. Read all you can -- it will help keep everything in perspective. Bless you and best of luck with your surgery and recovery :) :) {{{HUGS!}}}
