In 1998 I had the lap band after loosing 100 pounds, I was 427 to begin with, I left Australia and moved to Canada no one had heard of my surgery where I moved to so no one could help me. I had a lot of issues throwing up not being able to eat right so after 9 years of hell my dr found someone to help me. I went to the bariatric clinic did all the courses and saw all the people I had to and then finally met with the Dr. He was rude and treated me like I was a FAT person, said he could not take out my band and give me RNY as it would kill me. I thought thats not right I have heard tonnes of people have had this done, he stood up when I asked some questions and motioned me to the door since he said no he felt he didnt have to answer me I guess, so I cried my eyes out drove the 6 hours home with my boyfriend who tried his hardest to cheer me up, when my local Dr heard he was amazed and sent my stuff to another surgeon. They called me about 9 months later and said come in for review and do the courses and such again, I thought its going to happen again so I went to the first class and spoke to the lady and she advised me to maybe see the Dr before doing it all over again as it takes up to 6 months. They arranged for me to see him , I walked in sat down told him he said no worried I have done this many times, he was caring compasionate and listened to everything I had to say then said I didnt have to do everything again since I had already been threw it all and booked me in for surgery in 2 months..I was thrilled I had my surgery on april the 5th 2011. It was a breeze woke up from surgery went for a walk came home the day after that, and since I live 7 hours away from the clinic the dr arranged for me to be seen via TV so I dont have to drive the 7 hours to see him. He saved my life and I will be forever grateful Ty Dr John Hagen
