I'm not sure what that was about so after going back and forth with them and back and forth with my insurance company, they finally agreed to submit it to the insurance company and release my letter for it. Then was the dietician consult.. .well since I was going to have to drive 3 hrs to Junction City, they agreed that I could do it over the phone. So that was taken care of... then my personal doctor was dragging his feet on getting my letter wrote saying that I needed it... So the surgeons office went ahead and submitted it back to the insurance company... Well they submitted it on Friday, I called Monday and they said they had just gotten it and were reviewing it... I called Thursday and they said I was APPROVED. That they had approved it on Tuesday and sent out the approval letters on Tuesday!!!!So now I go for my surgeon consult (which he'll schedule my surgery date that day) on Oct 4th then I do my pre-op testing on Oct 5th and the nurse said generally it's appx 2-3 weeks after that when the surgery is scheduled. So with any luck I should be able to have the surgery the week of Oct. 22nd... I am so excited I can hardly contain myself!!! I was surprised though not many people had the same excitement I did... I thought my friends and family would have been a little more excited for me than they were... but oh well... I'm not too concerned with it... My husband is happy for me... but I think he's a little worried about it too...

Well I am just starting my journey through WLS. I decided about a month ago, after doing some research and what not that this is what I wanted to do. My husband on the other hand wasn't so sure about it. Especially not after the packet I received in the mail said that the mortality rate was 1 in 200. But after he went with me to the orientation and we talked with the doctor for a while, he has now become more at ease with it. He said he will support me all the way through it, and if I have to go to the doctor he'll be right there with me, if I have to go to a class he will be going with me. It's great to have someone support you 100%. However he constantly reminds me that he loves me exactly how I am. But I am not loving me exactly the way I am.
So we went last week to start the process. I don't know how most doctor's do it, but the ones here have you go through a whole pre-surgery thing. For example I have to go to 8 weeks of pre-surgery classes, which I think is great, and all of the testing and what not... So the nurse gave me a check list of pre-surgery things I must complete before ever meeting with a surgeon. My first goal she set for me is to find a primary physician... since I never go to the doctor and don't have one... :( So I found a doctor and see him tomorrow... Next is my ultrasound, that is scheduled for the following week, and then my visit with the pulmonologist is the week after that... So there's 3 things off of my list. Then of course my psych eval. which she doesn't want done until I am in my 6-8th week of class, and my dietician appt until my 8th week of class... so those will have to wait.... I start my classes on 8/22, I am so excited about that. Then start doing 10 extra minutes of walking a day the first week, add 5 min each day the next week until I am up to 30 min a day. Add 2 replacement high protein meals (slim fast, protein bar, lean cuisine) in place of my regular meals and add more fruits and vegetables to my other meal. Take 2 multi vitamins a day... Lose 5-10% of my excess body weight which is 13-26lbs. And last but definately not least QUIT SMOKING....
Then after that is completed I can schedule my visit with the surgeon. I am so anxious I can hardly contain myself!!!!
