Switch- a- roo! (Pun intended)
Feb 26, 2011
Well last week I happened to run across a post that started “surgery wars” and I was reading everything that was said back and forth between the DS’ers and RNY’ers. Needless to say it was brutal, but it got me thinking about my choices I realized that I Ds might be a better option for me due to it’s long-term success. In the beginning of my WLS journey in 2001 I came across a show called Plastic surgery b/4 and after and there was a lady who had undergone BPD with DS and I saw how she could eat a normal sized meal. Well she was on the show to have her excess skin removed so I looked and researched some, but DS wasn’t widely practiced by many so I threw that option out of the window, but now it has presented itself and I realized after researching all wls options that DS is the want I want. So I called the office and told them that I was interested in DS and I was switched to Dr. Sudan. So I have my appointment him 2/28 and my Psych eval is still scheduled for 3/7. I think it was meant to be that I was able to switch surgeons and my appointment was made very close to the original appointment. I don’t feel so worried about DS as much as RYN bothered me. The only thing that I worry about with DS is knowing what vitamins to take and how much. So that’s it for now OH fam. I will let you know how my appointment goes!

Ok so I called to check the status of my application again Friday around 9 am. No one answered, but I left a message. Around 11:25 am my cell phone rang and it was Dr. Pryor's assistant calling with some dates for me. I was so elated! My heart was pounding, and then she said Dr. Pryor's 1st appointment was March 1st! I thought OMG that is a month from now, but hey you take what you can get right? Well that's what I did. So I meet with her on March the 1st as well as the nutritionist! I am excited and nervous. I also have my psychological appointment with Dr. Friedman on March 7th. They couldn't get me in with everyone on the same day again I took what they gave me. It's looks like I will be doing a lot of that, but hey that's the way it is. So it looks like I will be waiting a little bit to get things rolling forward. I just wonder what happens after that. Like what the next step will be. I will be getting all of my questions together for the Dr and be prepared. That's it for now OH fam. Until next time.

Just waiting

Hi All, well today I have been thinking a lot about the process and the gifts that surgery has to offer me. I called to check on the status of my application last week and they said I should be getting a call this week. Well as the week closes in I'm feeling a little bummed that I haven't gotten a call yet for my 1st clinic visit appointment
. I will wait until Monday to call b/c that is exactly 30 days from the time I applied. I wished I would have applied in November like I started too, but I waited until the beginning of the year thinking that things my go fast and I needed to use my FSA card to pay for all my fees for the appointments and surgery and the new amount on my FSA card did not start until Jan 2011, Well I just wanted to to update and talk about how I am feeling. I will try to remain patient. Keep your fingers crossed that I will hear something soon.
