My name is Brittany and I am 23 yrs old. I have always been a chubby child not really skinny. I went to the doctor in 2002 and was surprised to find out I weighed 329lbs I felt so bad and I felt something had to be done. I went down to 315 and then down to 300. My weight goes up and down. I have tried a few diets they work for a while and then I gained back most of the weight I lost. In April 2005, I was diagnosed with hypertension and I changed my eating habits because I did not want the risks associated with high blood pressure. In July 2006, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. After hearing that my risks of having heart attacks or strokes are doubled I know I need to change. I am currently working on losing this weight so I can get off or lessen my medication for my diabetes and hypertension. My doctor said since I don't require a lot of insulin if I lose enough weight I can get off it all together. I recently started researching lap band and gastric bypass surgery because I kept hearing how it can help people with diabetes. The main thing I am trying to gain control of and my weight. I hope to have lap band surgery one day but for now I will continue research and speak to my doctor about it. I am ready and willing to change my eating habits for life. I would like to begin a family in the next three or four years but not at this size. I would like to be healthy as possible to avoid most of risks associated with diabetes and hypertension. So far I am doing good. My ideal weight is 180lbs -150lbs. The more weight I lose the better my health will be. Some days I feel so much older than 23. I just want to be healthier and happy.
