"Dr. Thompson is a very approachable, down to earth, compassionate and skilled surgeon. I grew to respect him even more as time went on. He underwent roux-en y surgery within the last year, so he understands!!!!! His office staff was always extremely helpful and caring. Anyone who is fortunate to have the surgery done by Dr. Thompson at the Mayo Clinic can be certain they aere being operated on by the best! The Mayo Clinic emphasizes aftercare and provides tons of pre-surgical and post surgical information; much of it in booklets. I live in an isolated part of Michigan, so participating in a structured Mayo aftercare clinic is difficult but they did help me find local support groups. The followup is outstanding and the greatest thing is if a patient has a problem, you can actually talk right to Dr. Thompson with your concerns! I rate Dr. Thompson the best! I had total confidence in his abilities and he did explain the risks to me. His genuine care and concern has been evident everytime I met with him. He really did go the extra mile and I am so very grateful to him."
