2 months post-op

Jun 14, 2009

I am feeling pretty good these days. Have progressed to bariatric soft diet but still a bit leery of trying new things, as I have gotten sick a few times. I need to work on fighting the cravings I have for "old" foods. It helps to finally see some physical changes in me. Although my friends and family have noticed it, I haven't seen it. Now my pants are too big, along with some of my shirts. My body is sure different this time around since the last time I weight this much. I was at this weight for 15 years in a size 22 and now 24 pants and shirts just fit right.

The best news is that I am off most of my insulin and almost all my medications. I am also able to swallow my pills without crushing them - yeah! That was one of the worst things for me.

My doctors tells me that I will still feel tired for another 2 months of so. That seems like such a long time. Exercise does help but I still don't like it!

One week to go...

Apr 06, 2009

Well, I am on the second week of clear liquids and it's tough. It's not as bad when I am working as I get pretty caught up in the day, but this last weekend was really tough. I had to ask my children to cook their own dinner as I just couldn't cook it when I couldn't eat any of it! I am pretty tired of broth and jello. Sorry to be whining - I know the end is near. Surgery is next Monday morning and I can hardly wait. A friend of mine has offered to spend the weekend with me to distract me from thinking about food as my daughters are going to their dad.
