"My first impression of both Dr. MacColl and Dr. Debeltz was very good. They were both very friendly and willing to answer questions. They wanted to make sure I got all the information they could provide for me. They are wonderful surgeons... very competent and caring. I just grew more confident with my choice to have these two surgeons perform my surgery as time passed. At times, I was a little confused by the entire process, but the Program Coordinator, Sue, was very helpful in guiding me along. There isn't anything that I dislike about these doctors. It is a good idea, I believe, to prepare a list of questions and concerns before your meetings with them to ensure that everything you are wondering about is addressed. The aftercare program seems to be a good one, with follow-up visits with the dietician and the surgeons scheduled for the next year. There are also support group meetings to attend twice a month. The risks of the surgery were stated very openly and honestly, but the confidence in the voice of the surgeon(s) helped to alleviate fears. I believe that Dr. MacColl and Dr. Debeltz are both very surgically competent and both are very friendly and easy to talk to. Dr. MacColl was the one who followed me when I was in the hospital, and he has been very supportive since my surgery. "
"Generally, I think the staff are well-trained. I know they were terribly busy, but sometimes I had to wait an awful long time for someone to help me. Dietary and housekeeping staff were friendly but noisy at times. It was very loud in the hallways... not very restful. One day, after an inservice given by my surgeons on bariatric surgery, I overheard some staff in the hall saying something along the lines of they were just learning about how they could go eat at McDonald's all the time now and then get bariatric surgery. I found that very offensive and insensitive."
