5 months post-op
Jun 15, 2009
I am 5 months post-op as of yesterday and am now down 42 pounds. The first 30 lbs seemed to just melt of, but the next 12 have been a struggle. I am in the gym working out 3-4 days a week and am pretty active on weekneds, working in the garden/yard and riding my bike, but I have just seemed to plateued out. I am seriously thinking of going back to drinking Boost for breakfast and lunch to jump start the weight loss. It's very discouraging to keep gaining and losing the same 2 lbs.

Down 32 lbs!
Mar 15, 2009
I finally have lost another 4 lbs. I thought I was permanently stuck! I have been going to the gym 4-5 days a week and busting my but with no loss on the scale. It was so frustrating. Then suddenly, I was down 2 lbs and then a week later another 2 lbs. Guess my body is finally adjusting it's metabolism. I really want to comfortable fit all those size 16 clothes before I get on that ship in April.
Stalled!!!!

I keep stalling out - what a drag! It is so discouraging to get on the scale in the morning and see that it is the same as yesterday. I am back at the gym and working my butt off, so what's the deal. I am trying to drink as much as possible, but never seem to get in the 64 ounces that they recommend. I am also dealing with constipation, which doesn't help. oh well, tomorrow is another, we'll see what happens.

Back to work and down 27 lbs
Feb 13, 2009
I started back to work this week and am doing good. Monday was great, thry had a little surprise welcome back party with cake! I thnked veryone and then passed out slices to everybody. I didn't have any, but didn't feel deprived in any way. I started back to the gym on Tuesday and made it to 25 minutes on the eliptical! Back to the gym Wednesday morning, but by Wednesday afternoon, I was so exhausted it wasn't funny. I ended up leaving early and going home and taking a nap! Got up at 5:30, made supper and went back to bed. Guess I didn't realize I hadn't gotten all my strength back yet. All in all , it's been a good week.

2 Weeks post-op
Jan 29, 2009
I am 2 weeks post-op and down 21 lbs. I saw the doctor on Monday and evrything is going fine. I started the new diet phase and am now eating soft mushy foods - yum. I still tire out real easy, but after reading alot of posts, I am finding out that this is not unusual. Alot of people have said that the tiredness lasts up to 6 weeks. Next on the list is to start exercising and help the weight loss along a bit faster.

January 20th
Jan 20, 2009
Sunday was a good day, I have had no probelms with the chewable vitamins and viactiv. I just have to remember to drink more fluids!! I still get the stomach cramps in the evening, almost like it has just tired out for the day. A little medicine calms them down, but they do get annoying.
I woke up yesterday with a headache, not sure why this is happening - not enough fluids maybe? Sitting around and watching TV or playing on the computer gets old fast, but there's not much I can do, I poop out so easy! Went to bed with another headache - what' up with this?
I woke up this morning with a raging headache - borderline migraine. I'm not sure why this is happening, maybe dehydration?? I had to take the Roxicet to relieve the pain. So, today, i am making a concious effort to drink more liquids - we'll see if this helps with the headaches.

January 17th

I came home from the hospital today. I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy on Thursday, January 15th. Not what I planned, but I think this will be better than the lapband for me. So far, so good, no nausea or vomiting and I have lost 6 pounds so far from a start of 219. This is the chance for me to lose the weight I needed to lose to get rid of all the problems I have been experiencing with the diabetes, perephrial neuropathy and osteoarthritis. I want to be able to run and play with my grandchildren.
