Hello, my name is Nicole. I got familiar with this web page through my weight loss surgey support group at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston, Ma. I have been attending the group once a month until my surgery in September. I just started researching WLS this year. I had to do something! I have always been big. It started in about 6th grade. I was always "the big girl". In high school I was a size 14 or 16. I thought I was so fat! Now that I look back, I wish I was a 14 or 16!!!! I am a size 22 or 24. I shop at Lane Bryant and they are expensive! I can go into the Walmart Plus size department but the clothes in there are all ugly! I basically wear sweat pants and a T shirt everyday. I am a stay at home mom so it gives me an excuse! I had my baby in January 2006 and I was heavy before I had her. I gained 80 pounds being pregnant! The worst part is the weight stayed with me. I have even gained more. I am 285 pounds now and its not working out for me. I have tried everything in the past year and a half that my daughter has been born. I walk, go to the gym, try all different types of diets.. How did I gain weight!!!??!?!?!?!!?!? I started feeling really bad about myself. I don't want my husband to even look at me. I find myself sitting on the couch with my chin in my shirt to hide my double chin. I lock the door when I got in the shower so he doesn't just barge in. I had to do something. I started researching this surgery and I went to see my PCP. I decided this would be the best thing for myself, my daughter and my husband. They deserve to have a happy healthy mommy in the house! I don't want kids to make fun of my daughter when she goes to school. Kids always have those "Your mommas so fat" jokes. Researching this surgery, going on web pages like this and just knowing I have a date makes everything for me feel so much better! I actually feel like I have hope and I will look good and feel good soon enough! I can't wait!!!!!
