Post op week five

Had an appointment today with the nutritionist to discuss what and how much I'm consuming.  We've decided that I need a fill since the quantity is pretty large 2-2 1/2 c.  I also asked for specific guidelines for calorie, (1000) carb (125) , protein (minimum of 80 gms) and fat (11gms)consumption and will continue to track intake on www.fitday.com.  Since the appointment was in Dr C's office, I had a great chat with Lisa (and she's rooting for the first fill too! for me)  I've another follow-up appointment with Dr. C this Wednesday so we'll see how I do and if he's in agreement.

I'm also needing an anti inflammatory back since my arthritis is not allowing me to do walking beyond the activities of daily living ie exercise!  This getting old stuff is really hard!!!!! and while weight loss will make the hips and knees better, it won't happen if I can't exercise!!!

We'll see what transpires on Wednesday.  Just a shout out and good luck wish to Dr C's June patients that I recently met: Dolly, "J", Randi, Rhonda, and CDJ!!

Tomorrow is my one month anniversary of my banding and I'm  a bit surprised about the lack of weight loss.  I've only stayed three pounds below my surgical weight so I'm wondering "now what?"  I did the liquid diet, I admit to skipping the pureed week but stuck to protein drinks and applesauce,  have stayed on the soft food diet for the last three weeks.  Yes, I've had my "moments" where I've fed the "need" with not such great, nourishing food but my excuse is I'm dumbfounded by the lack of success.  One question that presents itself is:  I lost 50 pounds pre-op so is my body right now saying "hold on, no more, give me a chance ot catch up?"

Also, since I don't have my anti inflammatories available anymore, I've not been able to continue my exercise on a regular basis due to arthritis flare ups.  I'm not discouraged until I read where people have been so successful their first month, then wonder what the heck am I doing wrong?

I have another post-op appointment on June 13th with the surgeon so maybe he'll consider a fill at that time OR tell me I can take my anti inflammatory (I doubt it!!)

I could use some words of wisdom.....

Thanks

Surgery was Friday, May 4 and it was a breeze, (or was it the open gown from the three times I had to use the bathroom prior to surgery??? Humm) We were delayed by an hour due to the initial surgery of the day, but I was very relaxed, no anxieties, and really really tired.  Lisa, my surgeon's office manager popped in and stayed and chatted until they were ready to roll me into the surgical suite.  Dang those places are cold! Fortunately, I was aware of that for only about seven minutes. The "good stuff" was put into my IV and the next thing I knew I was in recovery... I didn't even get to count backwards. The first week was full liquid with protein drinks being the fare.  I must say I love Gourmet Whey - Peanut Butter.  I found that I need to use about 10 ounces of milk vs 6 due to sweetness.  It's kept me filled up.  Speaking of which, I was  introduced to Hood's Calorie Countdown 2% milk and highly recommend it.  If you are watching carbohydrates and love milk, this is definately worth searching for.  I've only been able to find it at a local Fred Meyer's and bless them for continuing to carry it!

Yesterday was my first post-op appointment and all seems to be healing well.  Staples were removed and we're now into the steri-strips - which I'm told will "simply fall off".  I'm looking forward to my first fill which doesn't take place until the 5th or 6th week post-op. I find I'm able to consume way more than the 2 tablespoons worth of food that I'd been told about.... Anyone else surprised by how much they initially have been able to consume? Any tips for keeping consumption under control? I've worked really hard to get to this current place but also am aware how easy it is to regress to old habits.  Thoughts welcome.
