Hello Everyone. Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and concerns for me over the past week. I can't say that I'm to the point yet that I'm glad I had this done. I'm more at the point of "Oh God ... I'm going to live through every single horrid moment of this!!" ~smile~
Although I was literally almost in every unit possible while in the hospital, including two different intensive care units, I have not had a moments problem with my lap RNY. Other than the expected tenderness and soreness in the tummy region, I think I've done remarkably well with that. My mouth may never recover! I was from Sunday night at midnight until the following Wednesday about 5:00 p.m. before I was allowed ANYTHING in my mouth. Not even so much as a damp wash cloth. I now look like I had about a gallon of collegen injected into my mouth, because my lips are literally lined with fever blisters. I'm a sexy sight, I tell ya!!
I was in the intensive care units because of low oxygen levels in my blood. Good Lord, I've probably had that for years ... they said that was why I was so short of breath ... and I was like, "Why didn't somebody tell me that BEFORE surgery? Here I thought it was the result of lugging around an extra 130 pounds of fat all these years!!" Don't let my being in ICU scare snyone from this surgery. This would have happened if I had of been put to sleep to have an ingrown toenail removed. One thing though ... I will have to say that Florida undoubtly has the best looking male nurses in the largest numbers of any state out there. That alone might be worth coming to FL to have the surgery. I told my surgeon that this was highly unfair ... why couldn't I get a raincheck for ICU in a year when I was a hundred pounds smaller? Even HE had to admit that their did seem to be an above average number of studs at any one time in that unit!!
There are three women who I must name by name and say "thank you" from the very bottom of my heart. Mary and Deborah, employees of Tallahassee Community Hospital and post-ops, stopped by to say hello and give me encouragement when it was DESPERATELY needed! I had never met these women or spoken with them online. They just happened to see my name and my procedure while on duty, and took a moment out of their busy day to tell me "it will get better" and "in a few weeks you will be so glad you did this for youself." They were wonderful and will never know how much their support and encouragment meant to me. Another lady, Melanie, a resident of Tallahassee, I met a few weeks ago online via AMOS. She is a sweetheart and took time out of her busy life to stop by and wish me well. She was my "unofficial" angel here at ObesityHelp.com and posted updates on my surgery date page. Melanie is a pre-op and I know her time will be just around the bend! These ladies were truly my angels. They will never know how much it meant to me to have them support and encourage me. From the bottom of my hear ladies, "thank you!!!!!"
Again, thanks to everyone for their care and concern, it was very much appreciated!! Terri
