Well it has been 2 mths since surgery. I'm loving my sleeve!!! I'm feeling so much better.
1st mth post-op wt loss: 20 #'s.
2nd mth post-op wt loss: 14 #'s.

I'm home & sleeved. Wt morning of surgery was 236.8#. The gas pains were the worst in the beginning, but now 2 days post-op, that has mostly subsided. I'm really feeling the incisions now, mostly the biggest one where they took out the stomach. Dr. Bellanger used a 34F bougie. Well that's it for now, I need to go sip something.

I saw Dr Bellanger today & scheduled a surgery date. February 24th, Fat Tuesday ( how fitting), I will be starting a new life. I'm so excited, but at the same time, hoping I'm not wasting my money. I could use the cash for some things around my house, but figure my health comes first, right? If I'm not healthy, I won't be around long enough to worry about money or my house. I asked him what his goal weight for me would be, he said around 130 or 140. I can't even imagine it, but can't wait to see it happen, hopefully!

January 2009 - Disapproved!

I looked BCBS of Tennessee last night & saw that I have been disapproved for gastric bypass. I'm so upset, but not surprised. Kind of expected to be denied, just b/c that would be to easy to be approved after first submission. I don't know the reason yet, but you can bet I'm calling them Monday morning to find out reason. One way or another, I will be having weight loss surgery this year.

Ok, finally everything was submitted to insurance company. They said they received it on Jan. 8, 2009. For a couple of weeks, beginning of December I was under impression from surgeons office that everything was submitted. Only to find out a couple of weeks later, that ins. girl (at surgeon's office) was waiting to see if any changes for 2009 & then told will wait until after start of new year to submit. So frustraiting! I'm hoping for an easy approval, but have the feeling they'll deny me the first time. Hospital had a couple of lay-offs on Friday, hope there won't be anymore. At least I hope I won't be laid off, especially before having surgery. That would so suck, finally have an insurance that covers & to get laid off prior to surgery would be just horrible! I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks.

Well, psych said I was unbelievably normal. Let someone tell me I'm crazy, I've got papers saying I'm not, lol. Anyway, I spoke with my surgeons office today, she has received all my records & will be submitting to insurance company tomorrow. Now I get to wait so patiently, yeah right!

Nov. 12, 2008: I saw psychologist today, & took >500 question test (personality test). I will see her again in 2 days for review of results & interview. One more hoop I've jumped through, getting closer!

I had my first appt with the surgeon today, He did a little seminar first & then met with everyone one on one. Really liked him & the whole staff were really nice. I didn't really have a lot of questions, I guess b/c I have been learning so much on this website. Now all I need to do is see psych & lose 24# & can submit to insurance! Can't wait!!!!!

10-08-08 Ok, it's probably really not a big deal, but I'm excited anyway. I had to send a form to my insurance carrier, a request for In-network benefits for my dr. I called today & it has been approved, yay!! If only to get approved for surgery would be so easy. I'm going see my WLS md on 10-16-08. I can't wait!
