I am a 47 yr. old wife and mother. After raising 2 sons, my dear husband and I are also raising our granddaughter, Makayla. She is the light of my life and one of the main reasons I wanted to have this life-changing surgery!
I've never been a "thin" person, but it wasn't until the past 10 years or so, that I've really put on a LOT of weight and have been unable to take it off and keep it off. I've also developed several medical conditions that have scared me - high cholestrol, high blood pressure, fatty liver, rheumatoid arthritis, sleep apnea, and even bouts of depression. These medical conditions, along with the added weight got me interested in the various types of WLS. I have 2 cousins who have had the laproscopic rny and both been very successful with it, so I wanted to find a surgeon who was skillful in that area.
I have only had one appointment with Dr. "Fuzz" Fernandez, but I've attended everyone of his support group meetings for the past 9 months and I've been extremely impressed with him and his whole staff. They are so caring and thoughtful with each and every patient! I truly believe that their wonderful follow-up and support group meetings will be what makes a big difference in my weight loss road ahead.
I will update more, as I get closer to time of surgery and will also try to get my dear husband to take a picture, as much as I HATE to post one on here for the whole world to see!
