Hi there...thought I might give you some thoughts regarding Stanford. I live in Tracy, my PCP is in Livermore and my insurance Hills Physician/Pacificare will only allow me to go to Stanford. Stanford DOES require the 10% weight loss, however they will "schedule" you a surgery date when you have lost 1/2 of that 10%. I went in on July 30 and had lost my required 5% and they set me a tentative surgery date of JANUARY 15! They do have a new doc on board but they figure it will take some time to get caught up on the backlog. If you lose the total 10% weight loss, you can be put on a "waiting" list and then you will likely have an earlier surgery date, but they are really really anal regarding that 10% weight loss even with comorbidies present. I know you sounded frustrated with Doctors of Manteca, but thought you might like to know a bit about Stanford-while a great facility, the wait there and the requirements are stiff. I have been working towards my goal since Dec 02 and like you have researched it alot. Hang in there...and keep in touch.
