OMG...I am so happy!...I rec'd a call today from TWH to go in on Friday to see Surgeon, order optifast and book surgery! yahoooooo

So I've had a week from hell...we moved on Friday and we had the movers from hell...to make a very long story short they took 12 hours to do our move, damaged furniture and lost a coffee table...and even though they said they were insurred..not the case.  Then we had no help with the move accept for a friend watching our stuff at the new building while the unloading took place just so things didn't go missing...other than that it has been all my husband and me.  WE still have a gazillion boxes to unload...but the good news is the new apt is so much spacier and nicer than the last.  Then today I had an appointment with the phycologist at TWH...everything went super well and she told me I should have the  results in a week, the meet on Thursday and should know soon when my surgery will be...can't wait!  My husband came with me this time, and it was good because they saw I wasn't inventing a husband and that he was 100% on my side...

I just realized I am not sure how to post a message, just know how to add a bloq...not sure if this is the same thing or not...

Anyway...just wanted to know if anyone will be TWH on Nov 2, I have to be there @ 9 am...

 Hello Everyone....
Last week I had my appointment with the nurse & Social worker, then today I had the nutrition class and one on one with the nutritionist.  My next appointment will be on Nov 4 with the phyciatrist...and then a waiting game to see what happens next.  I realize it will probably be next spring as they are now booking into end of December at TWH...the wait is worth it.  Today we got a chance to taste the optifast...I prefer the chocolate but it's not as bad as I feared.  There were two girls there from OH, one I met in the past (thanks Lynn for the company and the talk) and the other I met at the waiting room...Hi Denise.   It is important to me to have all of view in my life and  to know we are doing this together...Thank you!   I realize I might have an issue during my liquid weeks as I do not like milk, yogurt or cottage cheese...but I will get by....Have a great day everyone and once again thank you for the support. 

 Today I have my personal assestment & social workers appointment at TWH, then on Tuesday 2 more the nutrion class and one on one with nutrionsit...Hopefully I will then know a little more after that.  I was hopping surgery would still be in 2010 

 Once again I had a great time today at the brunch.  Thank you Karen for doing the organizing...thank you to the ladies at my table especially Dana, Lisa & Karen for all the helpful tips...you girls are my inspiration  Thank you...
I am also sorry not to have spoken to more at people at the other end...but perhaps next time...It is hard to get around when seated in a long table...however, it was fun! Thank you.   ON the 6th I have two appointments and then on the 12th two more at TWH...so my surgery should be soon...I hope!  Keep you all posted! 

I had a couple for dinner at my place on Saturday...we had not seen each other for awhile and somehow my gastric surgery came up in conversation.  They were quite horrified and negative about the whole thing, and how could I even think of such an absurd thing to do...The worst part was I tried to stand up for myself and actually take time to explain the procedure and what you would go through, however they didn't want to listen.  All they kept telling me was about a cousin of theirs who had done the band surgery about 6 years ago, and who had suffered ever since.  According to them she is constantly going in to the hospital for adjustments, and now they can't even find the band.  As soon as this person eats anything, she immediately has to run to the washroom as she gets very sick.  On Sunday I was so upset with myself, why didn't I just fight stronger for myself.  I am so tired of having people judge me, either it's my weight, or how I look, and now it is even because I am trying to do something positive in my life, I want to feel normal and healthy once in my life.  When I did try to explain that the dumping effect is so that your stomach does not keep things it can't take.  The person should be taking supplements to compensate...and that I was doing another surgery not the band, they just kept on turning back to this cousin who is having a horrible time with this....People can be so mean and upsetting sometimes.

ok so yesterday I had my gastroscopy to see if there is anything in my stomach that would prevent me from having RNY surgery.  It was not pleasant! The drugs only started taking effect when I got home, and I slept for the rest of the day but was wide awake during the procedure...I just hope there are not many of those in the future.

the other thing, of course I cannot find out the results or speak to the doctor on that day, no I have to take even more time off work to go in and get the results...all the appointments are killiing me....but, I guess it will be for the best! It is just so frustrating

The nutrionist at TWH mentioned you can purchase it in the USA, however she wasn't sure where to find it.

I will be going to Buffalo soon with friends, and thought I would pick up some Optifast to try it out.  However, I've searched and called and cannot find it anywhere.  I've tried Target, Walmart Superstores, Tops...any idea where you can buy this stuff?
