One Year Bandiversary

Jan 19, 2007

Well, I had my surgery one year ago.  I am just shy of 40# (from the beginning, less in the docs office, but they count from when I started there).  I have bought some new clothes in last month.  I can wear size 16 and that is in the misses department, not in the womens/plus deparetment.  I have had so many compliments.  I don't notice much difference until I put two photos together and can tell I really have lost weight.  I hadn't been back to CHRIAS since August, but finally went last week.  I got a very tiny fill to try to jump start things.  Dr. Wynn said that I've lost 30% of what I needed to and that is normal.  I want to lose a LOT more, but am trying the slow and steady way.

Wow, it has been a year since I started this journey. I've lost more than 37 pounds as of today. I can't believe the scale is actually still moving. It does get stagnant at times. My son is 22 years old today and the thought that I still weigh more than I did 22 years ago when I was nine months pregnant (actually 9 1/2) it is amazing I let myself go so far over the years. I am still working out at Ladies Workout Express and really enjoying it. I am not seeing amazing results, but I do have more energy and can really move some days. I want to start running (I use to do that many years ago) again. My daughter loves to run, but she'll be having back surgery in two months, so her running days are very rare right now. I hope that as the holidays come along, I continue moving in the right directions.

Working out

Well I am actually losing!! I joined Ladies Workout Express yesterday to get my butt moving (walking the dogs is NOT enough exercise). I really like it. It is fast paced and you are done in 30-40 minutes. Really gets me moving. I am down 35 pounds. I can't believe this is still working. I am eating well. I had a couple of episodes this past week, getting sick and stuck, and realized it must of been because of that time of the month. I heard that you can be tighter then, but didn't pay it much attention. Couldn't figure out why I was getting stuck. Eating very good, making good choices and occasionally (only once in a while) having a snack that is enjoyable. Getting all my protein in. I'll drink two protein drinks a day if I feel that I didn't get enough in otherwise. I feel better. My clothes fit so nice (granted I want to go buy smaller ones, but that time will come). I am wearing tshirts that I got over the summer (18-20) and they are loose. Not clinging at all. YEA!!! My skirts I bought earlier are loose too. Can't wait to HAVE to go shopping. Loving my band.

I saw Dr. Wynn today, hoping to get a tiny bit of my fill taken out. She told me NO!!! Believe that!!! Actually I am ok with it. I haven't gotten sick for two days and have been better at eating. She told me that I am learning to use it (I had no restriction prior) and that eat time I threw up, there was a reason (which I knew). On the plus side, I dropped 8 pounds in two weeks, but remember I was up before going to see her last time.

It has been more than a week since my fill. I have been soooo excited that I finally have restriction, but now I am worried it is too tight. I got sick on Saturday after trying to eat a taco (soft)... just had to have ONE MORE BITE... what is it about wanting to finish something cause it tastes good? Well this afternoon, I was stuck after two bites of my salad (haven't been having a lot of luck with them) and then at dinner got really stuck and threw up (YUCK) I do NOT like to throw up, even when I know that I will feel better. I am going to call my doc in the am as I am afraid I might be a bit too full. I don't want to ruin our vacation which is 23 days away!!! Mickey here I come. I want to be able to enjoy myself, without pigging out, and without getting SICK in restauarants.

Well, it has been several days since my fill and I am so pleased to say that it is still working. I can feel restriction. I am not hungry most of the day. When my stomach starts grumbling, it is usually time for a meal. I love not being able to force a ton of food down (which I could do last week). I want everyone to know how good I feel. I hope that the pounds start to come off so I'll be more comfortable for our vacation in 28 days!!!! Yippeeee, we are going to disney!!!

Wow, I can't believe it, I am finally moving in the right direction. On Friday at the docs, I was up (weight), and after going through the weekend doing liquids, mushies and then regular food, I am finally moving down!! I can feel restriction, truly feel it. I can only eat a little and feel so good to know I need to stop. Praise God, I am going to do this. I took a couple photos (self-portraits, lol) to see if I can see any difference. You be the judge, it will take a while before I notice anything. (move pics to the bottom of page)

About time for an update, I know!!! It has been six months since my surgery. Until yesterday afternoon, I had absolutely NO restriction. On very RARE occastions, I would 'feel' something, but for the very most part, NOTHING!!! I saw Dr. Wynn yesterday (she says to me, don't wait six months to come in... it had only been three months, but that is what I was told). Last time I tried getting in early, forget it, they didn't even look, just told me NO openings. Does she even realize how hard it is to get an appointment for a fill? Enough on that. I got a FILL yesterday, praise the Lord, I can feel something. I should feel something as I have 9cc in my 10cc band. It is about time. I honestly could feel that I needed to drink my protein drink SLOW. Today, I had a protein drink this am and then a small soup for lunch... I wasn't hungry. I can't believe this may finally be working. We just had dinner and I didn't even eat hardly anything (I made egg salad so it would be something 'mushie' that hubby would eat also). He had two sandwiches, I had a tablespoon or two. I ate it very slowly and was feeling it. I actually saved the rest as I knew I didn't need to eat more or I might get sick and I don't want that. Well hubby and I are planning our anniversary vacation in 33 days!!! Yippeee, Mickey Mouse here we come. I hope that I see some weight coming off (I bought a couple of new things to wear and they are still too tight). I think this might finally be working. I am so excited and hope that I can do this right.

Well, I had my fill more than four weeks ago. Dr. Peters did it and it was so easy, no problems at all. He did tell me that if I was not feeling 'restriction' after a couple of weeks, to come back in for another fill. I called after two weeks and was told they didn't have ANY openings (I honestly don't think she even looked). I do have an appointment with Dr. Peters this Wednesday for a fill and I can't wait. I have been fluctuating between 18-20 pounds, then back to 21, actually yesterday the scale had me down 22.5!!!! But this morning, I am back to 21. I am disappointed that I feel like I can eat ANYTHING!!! I do eat alot of salads with chicken (love them), but I find that I'll easily grab things that I shouldn't because I am frustrated (can we say emotional eater??) I am very much looking forward to my appointment on Wednesday. I will also let the Dr. know that I wanted to come in sooner, but they couldn't fit me in. On another note, life is very busy... My son is moving out next weekend (just got his first apartment, actually it is a townhouse) and then he will be getting married two weeks later!!!! In between those two weeks, my youngest son is going to his first formal (boy I am getting old) and I took my daughter out last night to get a prom dress, as her prom is two weeks after her brothers wedding. She'll graduate the following weekend, so can you say I am going crazy here. In the midst of all this, Hubby and I have decided to plan a vacation to Disney, for just the two of us!!! We will spend our 23rd wedding anniversary in Disney World, I am sooooo excited. I have been planning our dinners and activities. We are going to do a Segway tour around Epcot. I wanted to do this last summer, but my son was only 14 (had to be 16) and the max weight was 250. Now, I didn't weight that, but I was too big to feel comfortable on that thing. Now that I have gotten 20# off, and hoping for another 20 by September, I will feel ok riding that contraption. It is a suprise, (the segway tour) so don't tell hubby.

First Fill

Mar 21, 2006

March 21, 2006

Tomorrow I get my fill, I can't wait. I don't 'feel' like I have had surgery for the most part. I don't seem to have any trouble eating anything (granted there are things I haven't eaten for fear of them getting stuck). I am very much looking forward to this fill. I am a scale junkie and I can't stay off of it. Every morning I get on and I get frustrated when it doesn't move. We went to a wedding on Friday (St. Patricks Day) and I did really good (until the desert, which I ate a small piece of cheesecake). I should have stopped at half, but I didn't, I ate the whole piece. My soon to be daughter-in-law's shower is this weekend. We are planning so much for that and I am glad I'll at least have my fill before, hoping it will keep me from eating everything.
