I've battled obesity for many years. A few years ago, I weighed 285 and I came to a point where I just couldn't take the emotional pain, embarrassment and anger anymore, so I attended a seminar on the Lap Band at a Dallas doctor's office. I was 4 lbs shy of qualifying for the procedure and I elected to try to lose the weight on my own. During that time, my now ex-husband refused to be intimate with me for 2 years because of my weight. He said he didn’t find me attractive anymore. This combined with many other factors led me into a deep depression and I suffered an emotional breakdown. Afterwards, I was able to lose 114 on my own and felt great. But it still wasn’t good enough for him. After 10 years of marriage, we got divorced and I am trying to adjust to a new lifestyle. Unfortunately, I've gained it all back and I can feel the physical toll it's put on my body, from joint pain, back pain, incontinence, etc. I don't have to tell you about the emotional pain that goes with it. It’s time to end the misery. I called my insurance yesterday and they said that the Lap Band is 100% covered--even the fills afterwards. That was great news! I'm currently researching doctors in the Dallas area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
