My sister and i has been talking about gastric bypass for the pass 4 to 5 years.  I had the be hospitalized in May of 08 and this is when i started to talk to the surgeon about my gastric bypass questions.  That doctor sent me to different classes to find out more information on the different types of gastric bypass surgery.  After going to a couple of classes and then being put on a waiting list I decided to start my life changes.  Once the doctor saw me like 3 months laters I had already started to lose weight and was ready for what he was about to tell me.  I had already received the information about all the different foods I will no longer be able to eat along with sugar(sweets).  So when my doctor started to tell me I had to try to lose weight before the surgery and I would have to drop the sugar, I had no problems with those orders.  I had just started Weight Watchers for the second time and was ready for what was coming from the doctor.  I just saw my doctor today (1/9/09) and he said we are set for April 09 (Roux-en -Y gastric bypass (RGB)).  It would have taken almost a year from the first time I talked to the doctor until I get on the table.  But I think I have more information now, with all the classes to help me feel safe and satisfied on my decison.  I feel like I have let my sister down because we stopped the research when I started my classes getting more information without her help.  I'm really looking forward to being lighter and a more happier person.  I do not have any health issues and have tried for so long to lose the weight on myown but can not keep it off but with the RGB surgery i know i will be able to keep it off and be around to see my grandkids.
