2 years!!
Oct 06, 2010
Tomorrow will be my 2 year Surgiversary. I can't believe it has been 2 years. I continue to feel very healthy as well as blessed to be in such a supportive community. It has not always been easy but this 2 year journey clearly has not been difficult. I try to follow the program very closely and have done very well maintaining my weight. Food is, however, on my mind every day. "Have I had enough protien today, tomorrow I am going to a buffet, what will I eat, etc, etc... ' Now however I feel well prepared for any situation and I know that I (not the food) always have the upper hand. As an added benefit, it is so nice to get out clothes for the next season and know they will fit!!

I feel like a poster child for WLS
Feb 11, 2009
It has been 4 months since my surgery and I am a new woman. I had the surgery in a effort to help with my Type II Diabetes. I was taking 4 insulin shot each day as well as taking 2 Metformin pills. I had a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and was on medication for my high blood pressure. Iam off all of those things now... no insulin, no CPAP, no antihypertensives. I have more energy than I had pre-op, but would be lyingif I said thinking about food was not a huge part of my day. The difference is, instead of beating myself up about what I had just eaten or tricking myself into believing that chocolate was one of the four basic food groups, I now spend my time being sure that I have had enough protein and water each day. (I like the new mode much better). I have good tolerance for most all foods (except ground turkey) and can still eat the hot and spicy stuff I love. Blessings to Dr. Gens and the Bariatric staff as well as to the staff of PRH. They have given me MYSELF back!

I had my lap bypass on Oct. 7th and have been home from the hospital for 6 days. The people here at PRH were wonderful and really kept me so well informed. I had no surprises about the surgery exept forthe initial pain. I guess i did not expect it would be so painful. I am doning much better now as GasX has become my best fried. I saw my sugeron today and he feels things are going well. I have seen a drasti redution in my insulin needs and am so happy about that.

I am trying to lose the weight for my surgery. My scales at home said I had reached the goal but whenI went to the surgeon's office yesterday, they said I have 4 more pounds to go. I was so unhappy. They are going to go ahead and get insurance approval however, so that's good. I am very anxious to get going now I have decided t do it.
