 It's now been 5 weeks since the surgery. I'll be getting my appointment date for my first fill next week.

I was afraid from some posts that I wouldn't lose weight with the lap band. However, I have lost over 25 lbs. As long as I follow the diet even a little, I'm losing weight at about 2 lbs a week for the last couple of weeks. That's about 10 lbs a month, which is fine by me. Exercise is real important, too. I'm going to get some dumbbells and a Wii Fit.

I do feel that the band is restricting my stomach a bit even without a fill. So, I'm real curious to see what will happen with a fill.

4/19/09 - traveled to Amarillo and visited and stayed with a friend overnight.

4/20/09 - got up at 6 a.m., out the door at 6:30 to be in Lubbock by 8:30. Attended a dietician meeting and met with Dr. Hall. Checked into the hotel. Spent the rest of the day wondering around the mall, bought a bathing suit and sat in the jacuzzi for quite a while. Bought the suit a little small, anticipating that the next time I pull it out, I will be at least 20 lbs smaller. 

4/21/09 - arrived at surgical center at 7 a.m. and in surgery at 8:30 a.m. and out of surgery and awake by 11 a.m.  When I woke up, they told me I could leave as soon as I accomplished the following goals: 1. walk to the xray machine to drink some barium and make sure everything is in place right; 2. keep down water; 3. pee.  Easy enough? Usually, it only takes people a couple hours to accomplish the goals. Within a couple hours I had accomplished #1 and #2. But, my IV infiltrated and we decided that I was keeping water down, so we didn't put a new one in. It was a good thought, except I couldn't pee. I was completely dry. After 4 hours and no success, we put the IV back in and put in water that way and orally. Finally, a couple hours after that - I peed and they let me go.

4/22/09 - 10 a.m. I headed back home by car. 6 hour drive. The husband was very hesitant. I told him I would be fine - I would just sleep. And, that's pretty much what happened.

4/23/09 - Spent the morning registering a kid for school. Took it easy the rest of the day.

4/24/09 - Went back to work for about 5 hours. (desk job) and spent about an hour walking around costco. Dr. has instructed he wants me walking 1/2 an hour a day from here on out.

 2/14/2009 - attended a seminar in Alb., NM given by Lubbock surgeon, Dr. Hall.

2/14/09 - filled out informational paperwork after the seminar

2/17/09 - received informational package from Dr. Hall

2/19/09 - filled out and mailed back info packet to Dr. Hall

2/26/09 - Dr. Hall requests more info - ins. card and email him photos (ugh)

3/2/09 - faxed card and emailed photos to Dr. Hall

3/9/09 - Dr. Hall needs new med record from my doc saying my current height, weight and BMI

3/16/09 - I see my Dr.'s nurse who gives me a script with my weight, height and BMI on it and I fax it to Dr. Hall

4/8/09 - got call from Dr. Hall's office - surgery approved by ins. co. I'm not available in May and approval will expire at end of May. I'm going to Disneyland May 7. I don't want to cancel. I have other work obligations that can't be moved for the rest of May. Dr. Hall schedules my surgery for 4/21/09. I have 13 days to see my PCP for a surgery consultation. I've never been able to get in to see him in less than 3 weeks. Today, I beg his staff and they set an appointment for tomorrow morning. Tomorrow, I will find out how to get all of the lab tests that have to be done ON the 14th.
