Hi, I'm Queen Deneen and this is my second time around..... I had the gastric bypass 5 years ago and it was a success. Although my surgeon made my stomach pouch larger and intestines shorter, I managed to lose 130 lbs of the 180 I wanted to lose. It has been a struggle though. I didn't realize how much of a food addict I was until I couldn't eat. I thought it was going to be easy, but it was not. I still wanted to eat like I did and was mad because I couldn't. By the grace of God, I had no complications and have done fine until recently when I started to gain weight. I have been consistently overeating, getting sick, having diahrrea, etc. That hasn't stopped me though. I thought once I had the surgery, I would never have to worry about eating and gaining weight again. I was wrong. You may say, "that won't be me, I'm not going through all that and then mess it up" But if you are a true addict, (and I believe anyone who has over 100 lbs to lose, is) you will have the same struggle. I tried weight watchers, LA Weight loss, Phentermine (a diet pill) and finally a special weight loss Dr. Even she couldn't help me. I've gained 40 lbs back and it terrifies me so I started looking into a revision. My insurance stopped paying for the procedure after 5 people at my work had the surgery. Luckily my husband's insurance does so I got on his and started the process. I'm pleased to say I am approved and will be having the surgery soon. I'm happy but at the same time sad, because my eating is going to be controlled. This time around, I'm seeing a psychologist to help me through the transition from eating to not eating. I did it alone last time . For those of you who never had weight loss surgery, know that it's the best thing that ever happened to me, I felt so much better and got off all medications. But remember that your relationship with food has to change. Some people talk about picking up other addictions because they couldn't eat. I think I started drinking alcohol more. It was everyday for awhile and was getting out of hand. When I stopped drinking I really started eating and gaining. I've gone from a size32 to a size 16 and back up to a loose 20. I dont' like it!!!!!! Dr. Geller who is doing my revision measured my stomach. He said after my first surgery, my stomach was 6cc, most Dr.s do a 2cc stomach. Because of overeating, it is now 10cc so it's big enough to do the lapband which is what I want. I look forward to reaching my goal of having a normal BMI. I feel I can do this with the revision. I'm excited and looking forward to it. Will keep you posted.
