I heard back from the insurance company and they denied my surgery request because I had not seen a physical therapist and a dietitian.  So since then I have seen both the physical therapist and dietitian. SSM has resubmitted my paper work back to the insurance company.  I expect to hear something back sometime this month.  I also decided to change from the gastric bypass to the lap band.  It just seems allot safer to me.  What do you think?

One other update is that instead of getting a personal trainer to help with with my workouts after the surgery I decided to purchase P90X.  I have use Tony Horton products in the past and they work pretty good.  I just ready to get this surgery done I can get into the gym and see those results!!

Talked to a rep from SSM and they said the insurance company hasn't made a decision yet.  I am ready to get this behind me.

Ok,

So I decided to change the hospital that was going to do my surgery.  After going to the old place and seeing the facilities I didn't feel comfortable with the environment.  So i decided to go wit SSM Health Care at Depaul Hospital here in St. Louis.  Because I made the change in mid stream I had to attend SSM's seminar and follow through with all of their requirements.  The last item on my list was the psych evaluation which I completed last week.  So according to my rep at SSM she is sending all the paperwork to my insurance company and I am just waiting to hear back on the approval.  I hope this doesn't take very long because I really want to get this done before the end of the year.  I have a cruise planned for next June and I want to have lost at least 50 pounds before I go.


I am struggling between the Lap Band and the Gastric Bypass.  They both offer great benefits but I'm just not sure which route to go yet.  Also one of my best friends has decided to get the Lap Band procedure.  She one the one that got me interested in the procedure almost 3 years ago.  Back then she was trying to get the procedure but her insurance company denied her because she didn't have enough co-morbid conditions.  Well since then some other things have developed and she is confident she wont get denied again.  I am really excited for her as I know she has been wanting this for a long time.

Hey everyone I completed my sleep study last night.  I am so tired this morning but I am really glad I went through with the sleep study.  The attendant woke me up about 2am and asked me to put the cpap mask on.  I asked her had I stop breathing in my sleep and she said "Oh Yeah" ...LOL

So now all I have to do is wait for the doctor to send my results to my current physician and I should be on my way to getting my surgery.  I am hoping to have this done before the end of the year.

I went to my first seminar last night.  I got all the information for the doctor I want to do my surgery.  I am deciding between the GB or the Lap Band.  Next week I have a sleep study scheduled.  I'm sure i will have no problem getting a letter diagnosing me with sleep apnea.  I have had it once before so I know what it feels like.  Once I get that I will go to my doctor to get my letter.  WHEEEEWWW I hope it doesn't take too long to get this done.  I am ready.

Hey everybody.  My name is Ralph.  I am 35 and this is my very first blog.  I have recently made a decision to get a wls.  I have been wrestling with my weight for most of my life and just have not been able to get it under control.  I gave myself a goal that if I could not get it under control before age 35 then I would have to get some kind of wls to help me get it under con trol.  I am 5'8  and I weigh 295.  I am very blessed in the fact that i dint have the typical health issues people of my size usually have.  I just want to be normal.  I am tired of being a big person and not being able to find normal clothes.  So...we shall wee how this goes.
