WOW...It's been awhile
Jul 31, 2008
Well I have been so active that I haven't been updating as often as I should. I'm really active and have reached my goal of 195-200 lbs. I can do things I have't been able to do in a very long time. Buying lots of new cloths.
The Weekend After
Dec 02, 2007
Okay I had the surgery on weds, and got out of the hospital early friday. When I got home things were pretty cool just because well I was at home of course. All pain from the surgery has just about left the building. I still have a drain attached to me for this week but I don't have any pain and that is cool. Now for all of the fluid I'm supposed to get everyday, I must admit it has been a little difficult to get it al in. If you drink too fast you know it, if you go too slow with some of the refrigerated stuff, you know that too. So for the time being I'm just drinking exactly 64 oz of fluid and hopefully getting all of my protein in there also. I've become fond of the isopure drinks because they count as both protein and liquid. The shakes are still a little too thick for me, and really I'm still tired of them from the 2 weeks liquid diet before. I will be on all liquids for 2 weeks and then I move into the pureed mode and I'm looking forward to it.
The Day after
Nov 29, 2007
Well I did it, its over and I'm in some pain but I will be okay. I did the leak test and passed, it was terrible tasting but hey it will all be worth it. After passing the test I received some crystal light and it was the best thing I've ever had. I'm very full now also after drinking the leak check stuff and the crystal light. More later......
The Optifast Liquid Diet
Nov 22, 2007
Okay the 2 week optifast diet is basically so your liver and insides will shrink and it makes the surgery even easier not to mention I've been losing weight like crazy so far. I thought it would be much harder but it really hasn't been. I guess I have too much desire to lose the weight. Thanksgiving was a little hard but hey when exactly is a good time to change your life.

My name is Randy and I'm going to North Hills hospital and having my surgery on Nov 28, 2007. My hopes are to get the gastric sleeve but I have been approved for the bypass. I stayed away from the band because of my fear of a foreign object being in my gut forever. I have been a lurker around here for a very long time, reading, listening, and learning. Now that I have done my preop and have started Dr. Kims liquid diet I decided it was time to start sharing, so hopefully people can gain info from me as I journey these last steps before the rest of my life.
Today is Thanksgiving and I'm enjoying my optifast shakes all day. I'm less than a week away from surgery and I have to admit I would like to eat so I actually tried a small little slice of turkey. This is the first solid I have had for over a week and it actually was uncomfortable. I didn't need anymore and I think I solved my desire for all of the good food I'm around today. 5 full days till surgery and I believe I will make it with no more solid food until next month. I'm currently down to 286 lbs and I started all liquids on the 14th at 298 lbs. woo hoo
