Happy New Year to everyone! It's exciting to start the new year with less weight! To date, I have lost 63 lbs. I am feeling so much better and have lots of energy. 24 more punds to reach Dr. Lee's goal of 175. I am re-focusing my determination on reaching the 175 goal. My family and I went to San Diego for Christmas and I actually did alot of walking and seeing the local sights. It felt good to be mobile. I wish everyone a peaceful new year! God bless us all.

Visited with Dr. Lee on Tuesday, June 17th. She is concerned that I am not getting enough protein in my diet. Recommended that I add protien shakes to my meals. I have had no problems adding coffee back to my diet. Did try to eat a small piece of steak and really felt uncomfortable afterwards. Although, no vomiting - just alot of discomfort. Don't know if I will try steak again soon. Dr. Lee also said I could try salads again! I am so happy about that, I have missed eating fresh vegetables and salads.
My current weight is 221. I have lost a total of 41 pounds since I begin my weight loss journey. Dr. Lee says I should weigh 175, but I am trying for 150.

Weight Loss Journey
May 30, 2008
Started my journey on September 25, 2007 at a nutritional counseling meeting at Kaiser. There were more than 15 people in attendance that evening. I did not know what to expect but the nutritional nurse was great, friendly and full of information. At the end of the meeting she weighed us individually thus setting my "beginning weight" of 262.
Kaiser requires 5 months of nutritional counseling meetings and meeting with a psychologist to be eligible for the bariatric surgery. I was skeptical that I would be approved because 10 years ago I had tried to have the surgery through Kaiser in California but was rejected.
The first thing I did was schedule the pyschological meeting which was not difficult. Got an immediate approval!
Next there were monthly individual nutritional meetings and goal of 3% weight loss.
By March 2008 I was approved for the surgery and scheduled it with Dr. Juliett Lee at George Washington University Hospital.
Surgery was May 22, 2008.
Today, May 29, 2008 I met with Dr. Lee and have lost 6 lbs since the surgery!
The post surgery was not painful.
